Proper shop for digging yet the prices for a used book are above B&N per new. The bookstore man wearing rubber gloves who also enjoys walking in the street opposed to the sidewalk is a big turnoff

This place is cute and charming, I love how the owner just shoves in every book they can even though they don’t have as much space as they need. It’s like swimming through an ocean of books. But, unfortunately, I probably won’t be returning. I was charged near full price for a book that was clearly used. I understand it must be difficult being a book shop these days when hardly anyone reads, so I bought it anyways, but if you don’t keep your books in good condition then I shouldn’t have to pay full price for it. Also, there may be a lot of books but the variety is limited. I noticed it’s mostly old comic books and sci-fi. That’s not really what I’m into. Overall, it’s a good place to go and see for yourself, but keep in mind the price and the little variety.

Pros: Charming clutter, he will gladly direct you if you want something specific Large selection, many types of media you may not expects like comics or older collections of the classics, some antiques Very small old town main street type of area surrounding store Cons: Charming clutter, double edged sword here Very over priced, charged much above retail price for the book new even though they're used and not new Came here with a general interest in science, philosophy, and psychology. Also occasionally pick up a nonfiction book on medicine, history, or politics (plenty of the latter, very little of the former). Owner seemed a bit rushed but helped anyways, only seemed to be one person at the time of visiting, might visit again because of sheer variety if I'm in the area (they even have comics and manga, obscure magazines, a couple antiques), but I'm not going to go much out of the way due to the price.

I recently moved to the area and have tried three times to fall in love with the place. But the proprietor is surly and seems inconvenienced when you ask questions. I had him order a book for me and prepaid for it. But he failed to order it until I followed up two weeks later. It came in, but when I went to pick it up during regular business hours, the Open sign was on, but the door was locked and there was a Back Shortly sign on the door. I’ve been waiting for 45 minutes as I type this. Once I pick up my book, I will not be back. There is too much clutter and disorganization anyway to make it a positive browsing experience.

I couldn’t believe how rude the owner was to my husband and I. I’m an artist in NYC and took a special trip here to find used books for a project I’m doing. We were so excited, I brought a suitcase to fill! We showed up 2 1/2 hours before close and saw a sign to put on gloves before entering, which we did. As I was searching the heavy book stacks, the owner came in and barked that he was closing for twenty minutes and we needed to find the book we wanted and promptly leave. Asked “are you even wearing the gloves” even though we clearly took all safety precautions. He said he closed the store and forgot to lock the door but left a sign we ignored. There was no such sign! I explained what I was looking for and he rudely told me to just tell home the title of the book I wanted. I did find a quick book (very overpriced) and as we paid he rudely asked me to spell my name on the card (not ask for id) even though my name was on the card. Then said he’d open the door for us and then, with tons of attitude, demanded we give him space as he let us out. I don’t know what we did to deserve such bad service. It was a big disappointment. We were treated like children! I had a lot of money to spend on a small business and was really upset to be treated as if we were a nuisance when we did nothing wrong. If you don’t want patrons to enter your shop during actual business hours, lock the door, actually put up a sign and if you don’t do these things, be kind and communicate like an adult. Unfortunately, we will never know if this was a place I can shop for materials in the future because we will never be back! Do not recommend.

Reviewers are correct to point out the steep prices here. Their used book prices are much higher than comparable bookstores in the area. Worse, they often charge the new book price for volumes that are clearly pre-owned, which just feels crooked. On the good side, they do have a great selection, a mix of ancient, old, and new that really draws you in. And the haphazard organization may be frustrating to some, but I found it charming. It's fun to get lost in labyrinthine bookstores and end up visiting a section I wouldn't have sought out.

Wonderful maze of tons of books. This place is the kind of book store you'd expect to turn a corner and find an entrance to a fantasy world. Organization is a bit haphazard to say the least but the charm more than makes up for it in my opinion. I met the owner the 2nd time I went and let me tell you he was so warm, welcoming and friendly. In the brief interaction we had I could tell his brain is just full to the brim of all kinds of information. Lovely place, will definitely go again. You can find all kinds of books there, some old, some new, some used, some pristine. Just ask whoever is at the counter if you're looking for something in particular but my recommendation is to just wander and see what catches your eye!

It's a huge mess. You can barely even walk. Most of the lights are turned off which doesn't help in the small corners. The book selection is mostly mystery and horror, barely anything else. The prices are outrages. Even Barnes and Nobles is cheaper.

I love these guys but it’s SO dusty, would not recommend going in there if you have allergies like me. I always end up with wheezing and a headache. It’s also extremely disorganized. Books on the floor, sections not clearly labeled, and no way to look up where things are. It adds to the quirky charm, but also is annoying. That being said, Greg and Joel are a joy to talk to and are very kind and helpful.

Lots and lots of books but hard to breathe because of the dust.
