It’s always a clean and tidy store with helpful staff. It’s usually SUPER busy on weekends which is to be expected as it’s the only location on Oahu and at the Mall. I visit at least 1-2x a month and they NEVER have first books in series. Fantasy, sci-fi, Young Adult, romance, you name it which is absolutely frustrating. They JUST expanded their romance selection to include indie authors like Lauren Asher which is so, so exciting!

Nice little spot to get books, grab a drink, or both. Pretty standard Barnes & Noble store, they have activities their throughout the week like reading time for kids. The staff are also very friendly and knowledgeable so that's a plus. They keep the place clean and organized.

Wide selection of books of all genres, it also has lgbtpq+ books and they’re not hidden away either. The staff is very helpful, always happy to go through the trouble of looking for 5-10 minutes for just one book for customers.

Angelina is hands down the best and most helpful person and employee that I have ever came across. She went out of her way to make me feel taken care of. I would personally vote her for president, and this store should be honored to have such a bright person working there.

So this is for customer service, or in this case a lack of. The first incident was when my family was there, seeing another customer sitting down and reading my kids asked if they could sit and read the books they had (don't worry we bought them but kids get bored). The gentleman, and I use that word loosely, working walked up to my kids passing the other customer and told them they were not allowed to sit, then passed the other sitting customer on his way back to his minimum wage throne of power. The second one occurred today and will result in us no longer visiting this location (Amazon here we come). As we were done checking out my wife and kids walked ahead of me out, as I walked through, after they had already passed through the anti-theft devices, the system beeped for me. Knowing I had purchased a DVD and how unreliable those scanner systems are I turned around immediately to the front counter already telling the lady it's probably the DVD. She was nice and courteous and if I had her name I would commend her professionalism. Her counterpart on the other hand I would fire, this one decided that although my family had already passed without incident they must be the possible thieving culprits, you know those pesky children and their thieving ways. She decided to handle this by walking into the front area (my wife had decided to not exit store as the alarm beeped) and grabbed the bag from my wife's hand. Not ask, grab. When I noticed this and said a choice couple of words the lady at the front counter told her moron of a coworker that the problem was solved and she was working it. She did not seem pleased but apparently after making eye contact and seeing my anger hit a level that only stupid can bring out she decided to hand the bags over without so much as a sorry or verbal offer of any kind. Will not go back, glad to see customer service continues to be an dying art and I can fully understand why so many stores close now from lack of patronage. Good luck B&N because with employees like that you don't need shoplifters.

After every child we gift the baby books to another family so we need to purchase them again with every new baby. Barnes and Noble has just about every single classic baby book (and for a reasonable price) that we wanted. The staff at this particular location (Ala Moana) is always so helpful and friendly and the store is kept immaculate.

I love talking to their staff. I bought several books based on their recommendations and they are all so great and they were not something I would pick by myself. Also, great selection / promotion on local authors. I love to support local bookstores but they often close early. This one is open till 9 pm and you can bring your kids after school. I let my son pick up his own books to read. PS. Today, on May 13, pretty much everyone was masked in the store. #covidsafe .

This bookstore is HUGE! All kids of stuff here. Massive amounts of magazines, books, games, toys, CDs, vinyl records, and DVDs. It’s pretty easy to get your head spinning here with trying to find specific sections of books but thankfully most of the staff is friendly and helpful. Even though one of them nearly knocked my daughter over as she was walking through the store. Guess some of them are motivated to get those shelves stocked. Anyways, if you’re looking for a book to enjoy on the beach, in your hotel room, or really anywhere, you can find them here.

4/25/2021 Update: My teenagers loves the place; went back to take better look at what they have. There are varieties of books, different categories of course. But...the price...wow! After buying it's like a library to keep at home. There is always Kindle but my youngest likes actual books. I guess it's good to teach them to love a book in their hand huh? Overall, the store is nice, clean, lots of things to look at. Like the STEM section; great for little scientists. Upgrading to 4 stars until we are back for another visit. 😁 4/24/2021: Seem like prices went up? Have to go back to explore more so this is not my final rating.
