Great local pub, with friendly people, great music, and fantastic ambience. We had one of the giant pretzels with beer cheese, and it was great. Others seemed happy with their food. The owners were very friendly and have a great, historic bar. There is also outdoor seating if the weather is good. Prices were good too. This is a cool town, we will stay here again, and will explore Portage Lake some more. Really enjoyed this place. ~Michael

After having a pleasant prolonged stroll with a friend out to the beach area on a scalding hot day, we headed to get some ice cream, and before departing, I wanted to rehydrate, so I noticed the smallish bar-looking spot and extrapolated that I'd proceed there as there wasn't anyone else frankly there which for an introvert it was excellent as it was just the two bar gentlewomen. So I proceeded there and requested some water which they cheerfully did and didn't pressure me for beverages of any other kind. So that was praiseworthy. It was a congenial environment, clean and tidy atmosphere. The gals were exceptionally cordial as I conversed with one of the gals who was only there until she had to return to college. She briefed me about how desolate it is during the wintertime in Manistee. Great conversationalist. After that I returned to my automobile and drove back to Traverse City. Altogether an extraordinary time for merely desiring to have some iced water, if I do say so myself. ~XPoisonxxXxx
