We arrived at 11am as they were opening, and seated in a dim corner of the room which was lit only by a central chandelier. I’m not sure why we were given that table, but I should have asked for one of the more desirable at the electric fireplace or one of the three windows. It was dim enough that I took it upon myself to open all the blinds. The waitress was efficient and knowledgeable. I ordered a bowl of the gumbo and my friend ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich, subbing out vegetables for the standard choices of potatoes or pasta salad, for an additional $1. When it arrived she was pleased to see that there was also a generous fresh fruit garnish. She really liked the chicken and marveled at its moistness. She totally cleaned her plate of everything, except the bun, due to diet constraints. My gumbo was good, with more than adequate portions of protein. The bread/butter plate was delicious! One previous reviewer commented on the taste of the water but we both thought it was perfectly palatable, and had several refills. As I was leaving I saw another woman turning on her phone flashlight to read her menu. The food was good, just increase the wattage. ~Lisa
