We opened a savings account at this branch and had a horrible experience. For background, we have had a mortgage with WF with 100% on time payments and early payoff. We were required to make an appointment a week out to sit down in the office and open a simple savings account. The process took most of an hour to do what was mostly completed online.
We made a significant deposit to open the account and were told the funds would be available in 48 hours. Over a week later the funds were still not available. We opened the account to pay rent on a beach house where the landlord required Zelle payments, and WF has the highest Zelle limits. As the deadline for rent payment loomed, the money finally showed up in our account on the last day possible.
I went down to the branch to speak with a manager and met with Juliann. She pulled the deposit receipt which showed that our deposit would take up to 48 hours for availability. She then couldn't explain the delay and called WF customer service while I waited. After a long wait, she blamed the delay on funds not being available from my bank. My other bank showed the transaction cleared one day (24hrs) after the deposit. We also got an letter from WF stating that our deposit had suspicious signature and was held. We showed multiple IDs and made the deposit in person with cash and a check. Two different stories trying to blame others.
When I was in the bank another customer came in and also had a story of shady practices with this branch and WF.
WF has been sanctioned for shady practices for years and seems to be still up to their game. Holding deposits is a great way of increasing their revenue.
Stay away from this branch at West Linn if you can help it. There are lots of great financial institutions available. Juliann advised that a district manager would reach out about my concerns. No one did. ~Mark
