I added a star to the review, as I got a very quick response from Sherwin Williams who agreed that they SHOULD have warned me the item was not a sale item, apologised for oversight, and have set things right to my satisfaction. Apart from that now-resolved issue, I have no complaint with the store. The detailed review is below, but it's long, so I will summarise it - if you buy from Sherwin-Williams during one of their sales, be warned that the staff do NOT (based on my experience!) warn you if they recommend an item that is NOT covered by the sale discount. Now the review I submitted to Sherwin-Williams... I am frankly less than thrilled when your store prominently advertises 40% off paints and stains, but the staff then feel that I need a product which does NOT qualify for this sale, and do not make it clear to me that those items are not on sale. Let me be very clear about this. The staff member may have been 100% correct that I needed the non-discounted primer. That does NOT, in my opinion, mean that she should have omitted to tell me that it was not on the 40% discount before she sold it to me. Given there was only $10/gallon (roughly) difference between the non-discounted primer and the discounted paint, I might well have decided to just get more of the paint and use two coats of paint rather than one of primer and one of paint. By her not telling me that the primer was going to be more expensive than I expected, she was denying me the chance to make that choice. It was only at the end, when I realised the arithmetic did not add up and challenged the total, that I heard about the primer not being discounted. **This simply is not good enough**. If I buy premium paint from a premium store, I expect a premium quality of information as well!
