Great place, great people, great coffee and great homemade pastries for breakfast: plus, a unique offer for movies rental . Seems a bit being in San Francisco in the 70s, but the original, not a cover of it. Very nice indeed

Glad I finally got to stop in to this new coffee shop! I used to live by the old Video Underground in Hyde Square, and this was my first time at the revamped shop near Eggleston Square. The coffee is quite good! I took home some Tanzanian coffee about a week off roast, and brewed it up this morning. It has a nice smooth nutty character to the roast. The shot of espresso I had in the shop was in a pleasant, classic medium profile, also very good. I will be back to try more whole bean. They have an interesting micro roast setup which could yield some exceptional batches. I will be back to try more.

Looks, feels, and smells like a dingy '80s basement. It would be great if you're looking for rare DVDs, but the food was sketchy and the place needed a major cleaning. I couldn't get over how stuffy it smelled. And also it was somehow warmer than the outside, during the summer? Don't get the hype on this place ...

Love love love The VU. Kevin knows our order as soon as we walk in. The staff is super friendly and the home made baked goods are amazing. You need to visit this place

I stopped in to check it out as I was killing time in area while on vacation from MI. The guys working were super nice and suggested the Ultra Violet drink that I ended up ordering, as well as the s’more hot chocolate. Both were amazing and I’m so glad I went with the suggestion! I would def seek it out again if I’m ever back in the area.

It’s the best cafe in JP. Everything is high quality, with a surprisingly large and creative menu, great coffee and crepes, and lots of character. Staff is always attentive and courteous. My only complaint is that they should revert to being open 7 days a week, so I can get my Monday coffee fix! As it is, I come in at least 2x per week and have never been disappointed. Clearly a labor of love.

The VU is our favorite. The drinks, pastries and other food are always excellent. The drink variety is huge and includes classic coffee/tea drinks and a rotating number of special and creative drinks. All the pastries are baked fresh everyday, savory scones are our absolute favorite, but everything is good. They even accommodate vegan/gf pastry eaters. The really great thing, though, is how nice everyone is that works there! They are so kind, even handing coffee to us outdoors in a snowstorm (we were all masked) because we are isolating. Our dog even got a treat. We love, love, love going here and cannot wait to be able to stop inside again. This is a gem in the neighborhood and I will never be able to say enough good things about it!

This place is amazing! Like many I found it accidentally while walking around the neighborhood and i'm so glad I did! There's an amazing collection of movies and if they don't have what you would like, you can always request it. Any appreciators of film will love this place! There's also screenings on Fridays and you can book the place for events. I went here for movies and found they have incredible coffee (pour over anyone?) And I've tried a bunch of different drinks here and they're all amazing, as are the fresh pastries! Not to mention the truffle salt popcorn! There's also cool art for sale! Seriously this place is amazing and I'm so glad it exists. The price for rentals is the best you'll find as are the prices for beverages. Check it out! You'll be glad you did!
