I'm sorry to give the Sanborn Old General Store a low rating, because it's one of the few stores of any kind in my little town, and because I've gotten some great furniture and tchochkes here, but last time I stopped in, there was a bunch of Black memorabilia, like Aunt Jemima cookie jars and figurines of Black children eating watermelon, in Booth #8, which I found racist and offensive. I emailed the Store to ask whether they would consider making their merchandise more "inclusive," so a diverse clientele would feel safe and comfortable shopping there, but they never responded, so I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

It was really nice here 🙂 Everyone was kind and there was quite a variety of things to look through. I found one of my favorite frog figures here (it looks like a surinam toad)! It was a good time.

A very tasteful, clean, and inviting layout with a feminine appeal in terms of variety. Some of the vintage sale items proved irresistible. Engaging staff, well worth the visit.
