I ordered these earlier this year, fries were hot and crispy and amazing. Sandwiches were double the size. I ordered tonight, and besides the sandwiches being half the size, the fries were soggy like they were thrown in the microwave. Absolutely awful. I called and they said they fry them but then just let them sit under a heat lamp until orders are placed. Who knows how old these fries were. Definitely don't order late at night and expect quality.

My boyfriend took me here on a date. We made a reservation at 7:45pm and came exactly at the time we reserved. Fast service being seated, our server was very sweet. We got the pretzel breadsticks as our appetizer. It was delicious. I ordered the 15oz ribeye steak with fries and broccoli. The steak was cooked medium well perfectly, the fries are delicious, the broccoli was decent. My boyfriend got, fish and chips and it was good. We got chocolate cake for dessert. Very moist, and creamy. I’d go back again.

We came her for my father in-laws 70th Birthday! Half the Family came down from Dublin OH and we came up from Pomeroy OH. The food was really good over all, the tarter sauce with the fish and chips was a little sweet as well as the chicken stir fry, but minus that it was really good. It had a cozy atmosphere, the waitress was a super nice, on top of everything and provided excellent service!

Three of us ordered med-rare burgers that arrived very well-done. I could only eat 3 bites of mine. They would only take 1/2 off of the bill. We have eaten here before and it was good, but on this day, it was awful. Our guest was very disappointed. Even the gluten-free bun was on the wrong sandwich. ADDITIONAL:. We did go back for another try. Everything was just as DELICIOUS as it was the first time! Thank you for making it right!! Dietary restrictions: The gluten-free bun was good - but on the wrong sandwich.

So I wanted to give 5 stars so bad. I had high hopes. The atmosphere here is great, the service was Excellent, location awesome. I try really hard to give the best ratings I can to help local businesses owners. I mean this is their livelihood. The food was just ok, I was a bit disappointed. The crab cakes were good enough. The filet was cooked perfect but tasted cheap and was thin and smallish. The scallop potatoes were something liken to a cheap buffet style, no flavor, way to much flour. I will give it another try and order the Walleye it looked great. The I prices weren't bad.

I’d like to preface this review with the fact that I have never given any establishment a one star review. As a former service worker I always tend to be understanding and forgiving of service slights but The Downtown Bistro failed us on almost every level possible. A friend and I were excited to stop here on our way to Hocking Hills for lunch having researched places on our way in. The establishment wasn’t very busy when we walked in. The hostess seated us without a word, I said “Thank you so much!” when she placed our menus down but she didn’t acknowledge me and just turned around and walked away. Our waitress came over and took our drink and appetizer order. I ordered an old fashioned which turned out to be the only decent thing about my experience. For my appetizer I had the crab cakes which was more like breadcrumb cakes with barely even a hint of crab. I also tried the stuffed mushrooms my friend ordered and while she enjoyed them, I didn’t find anything special about small 13 dollar mushroom caps. After a disappointing appetizer and a strange interaction with the waitress when inquiring about their daily specials (one she claimed was simply “chimichurri”), I decided to just order their lobster bisque. The menu says they only serve it on Fridays and Saturdays so I thought it must surely be good and fresh! Well it was neither. The Lobster bisque had no lobster and wasn’t even a bisque! It was some sort of tomato broth monstrosity. What was even more horrific was the steak that was delivered to my friend. She ordered it medium rare but what she received was some sort of rare, pre-seared, boiled looking, unappetizing piece of meat (please see photo). When the waitress eventually came back over my friend told her, “I didn’t care for this.” The waitress simply said, “ok” and took it away. No apology or sincerity (which was her general disposition, odd for someone who expects to be tipped). She seemed generally annoyed and bothered by us throughout the entirety of our stay. The Downtown Bistro is lacking in both edible food and halfway decent service and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

This is a wonderful spot in downtown to sit outside on the spacious patio and have a beverage and good meal. After my second visit, the service and food were still solid. Chris is a wonderful staff member and took good care of us. Flatbread, lobster bisque, and especially the Chef Cruz Club were all fresh and flavorful. Also check out the near coffee shop next door as well.

We've gone to The Downtown Bistro several times and the food is always great. Chris has waited on us a couple times and he is very friendly and helpful. The service is quick and the presentation is top notch. We will continue to visit The Downtown Bistro and plan to take family and friends so they can experience this gem as well.

I don't know what happened. Sure it can be short staffed sometimes, but service was always excellent. Not an issue for me. I've been here three times before and the food was A+. Though my wife and I came back for the first time in almost 8 months and the food was way off. The burger and onion rings was a favorite of mine, but the supplier must have changed. All of it is smaller, looks different, and doesn't taste very good + a 4oz burger. I think the menu advertised 7oz maybe? Shredded iceberg (instead of romaine) on the burger and onion rings were way off too. It all just had much less quality to it. I promised myself I'd come back again and try something else, but something not so good happened to the burger/onion ring lineup.

1st time here and it was great. We ordered the Salmon and T bone entrees. Both really good. We came on a festival night so it was a little hectic for the servers. Will def give it another shot soon. Maybe brunch.
