All these 5 star reviews must be related to the owner or are employees because this place is a joke. The place was filthy, flies everywhere. Extremely slow service and food was terrible. I could not eat my food. My sweet tea tasted like it was a week old. I ordered the pull pork sandwich with coleslaw. The coleslaw was literally just lettuce with watered down mayonnaise and the pork had absolutely no flavor and tasted like it had been soaking in water. Someone from a previous review stated homemade fries.....WHAT A LOAD OF BULL!!! My fries were straight frozen store bought fries. Will never go there again!! In response to the owner....I guess the truth hurts. I too am from NC and that style of barbecue is my favorite. What I had at your establishment tasted no where close. And if in fact it was "smoked all day" Why did it take an hour to receive my food? There were only 2 other tables occupied when I was there and they too had to wait forever for their food! I had hopes that at least the food would be worth the wait, but no. It wasn't just the food that was a disappointment. Trust me, we won't be back!

I'm really picky about where I eat because I know how gross restaurants can be, but this place is the opposite. It's so clean and you can tell they take pride in making it a nice environment. And the foooooood, its so good I honestly think about their loaded fries everyday.

We heard good things from some friends of ours and decided to check it out after shopping one day. The building, which had been in poor repair from the previous owners, had been fully fixed and refurbished to the point it was practically unrecognizable. In a good way, of course. Everything was cleaned. The walls were painted, the floor replaced and the furniture changed to fit the new style. The ambience of the restaurant was comfortable. It gave off the feeling of a place to relax after a long day or to hangout and catch up with friends and family. The staff were friendly and sociable without being overbearing and were quite competent at their jobs. The wait time for our food was reasonable and the prices were great for the food we were getting. Which brings us to the most important part of the review. The food. And let me tell you the food here is AMAZING. I ordered meatloaf myself which came with a side (I got a salad) and a slice of cornbread. My Grandfather got the All American burger and a side of fries. The burger was thick and juicy, tipping the scale at a half a pound and was thoroughly smoked all the way through. The fries were thin, but long and wide, well salted and crisp as could be. The meatloaf was equally smoked and juicy, covered in a sauce that made the whole thing melt in your mouth. And the cornbread. Oh the cornbread. It was perfectly baked. Just enough sweetness to be pleasant and a soft, fluffy inner texture that nearly had me mistaking it for cake. All in all Brackens is a wonderful restaurant that I highly advise anyone in the area to check out. Personally, my Grandfather and I plan to make many return trips and I encourage anyone else to do the same. You won’t regret it.
