Staff is always pretty friendly, but over the past couple weeks they've been running low on several grocery items that seem to be in high demand due to COVID-19.

7/26/21 Just went through the self check out, loved it! Card only, no alcohol, but it was worth it not to have to stand in line.

THIS IS A BRAND NEW STORE. Nice level parking lot, unfortunately not big enough. Very large with wide isles, automatic double doors with plenary of carts. There is a great selection of frozen food, dairy and cereal, just to name a few thing that are so much cheaper than the grocery store. No produce though. This is my first stop before shopping for anything, cleaning supplies, paper goods dog food, hygiene products, they have it all. Redbox and ice machine are located outside. Always crowded but cashiers are hard workers and very friendly. And they have bathrooms! Big plus.

@T Phillips the reason for the new store not having wine when they opened was because they'd applied for the license to sell/carry several months prior, and had yet to receive it even after the new store had been opened for some time. That's not their fault. All they can do is apply for it and wait until their request is granted. I feel it should have been a situation of the current license being transferred to the new store since they moved so close to the old store, but I do understand there's protocol that must be followed. This is by far my favorite Dollar General store. The employees are SUPER kind, respectful, and always willing to assist. I wish ALL Dollar General stores had employees like we are fortunate to have here in Southside. Keep up the great work guys!!!

My husband and I went to the grand opening of the new store and I thought it was great. It was a large store and looked like a grocery store. It has food and drink coolers almost all the way down the right side of the store. It has all types of food and other household supplies that you might want.

This newly reopened store has the best employees working there. I asked for an item on a top shelf. I was shocked by the response of yes mam and they went fur a ladder. I wish i had noticed her name. Honestly most Dollar General's are so understaff or overwhelmed that they are robots at times. I never have found this to be the case so far in this one. Always greeted. Employees are helpful and treat myself and others with respect and friendliness.

Started good but Everytime since items in no real order. Very disappointed in new store. Been open long enough to have all the problems fixed. It's just convenient. When I go to Glencoe it amazes me at all the Southside people there that feel the same way.

Isles blocked with stock. Floors very dirty even with gum wads stuck to floor and has been for awhile. Cashiers today have been the best compared to rude an snotty ones in previous visits. Store needs a more attentive manager to get store up to the cleanliness and organization that would make shopping there a pleasure.

Slow, slow. Have to stand in line to long. Looks like they would open another register up when it gets lined up. And their registers are very out dated. When I put money on a prepaid card, it takes forever to put it on. Because the registers won't work. Have to buy a new one card to even load.
