We found these almost by accident as my wife suddenly remembered reading about them when she spotted a sign. Good job there are lots of repeater signs as you drive up the hill as otherwise would definitely have worried if we were supposed to be there. Glad we had a good SUV but someone else had managed it in a Ford Focus (must have been very bumpy).

Beautiful to visit...off the beaten path.

Almost didnt go because of the reviews saying the road was so bad. I made it up in my ford fiesta EASILY. Front wheel drive only AND low clearance. Clearly these people are used to city driving. If you can drive a dirt road in Iowa, Montana, Wyoming etc you'll be fine. Was easy peasy both ways.

I chose to walk from town, about 1.5 miles each way and it was a scenic walk up the mountain. The murals themselves are absolutely beautiful. What is even more amazing is how there are petroglyphs right there too, a place where ancient and modern art meet. Truly a life changing experience. Can't wait to go back and explore the little town more!

Drove up in Mazda crossover with no problems in June since it hadn’t rained in a while. Was easily able the find directions of painted arrows up the MURALS rd. This location is very peaceful once there with parking for a few cars. There is plenty room/paths to explore and the massive size of this mural is hard to capture with camera. It’s a must see if near and the town of chloride in general is worth a ride around (cactus gardens, yard art, houses with antique collections on display everywhere!)

What a neat place this is to visit. We took advice of VICKY FLIPFLOP'S blog and went to Chloride on our way to the grand canyon. The general store was fun and the nice lady running it was very helpful. We drove up to the mural and spent a little time in awe of the amazing scenery. It is basically a goat path up to it, but we did it in a mini van without any struggles. Lots of interesting yard art around Chloride as well. People were very friendly and the whole adventure probably added an hour and a half to hour trip to the canyon. I recommend it. Very peaceful adventure with minimal cell phone service for us 😊

Neat hidden gem. The road is a bit bumpy, if you have a truck ok. Be cautious with a small car, like me. Did some hiking up in there too.

It was interesting. The artist painted the murals in 1966. His children and grandchildren later came back and added the blue. The road get rough but my corolla made it no problem.

This place was actually pretty awesome. Its 1.4 miles once you hit the dirt road and make a right . There are 2 forks in the road on your way there, just stay on the left for both and you'll make it just fine. My wife made it back there in a Volkswagon Golf, so pretty much any car will make it.
