Their coffee is exquisite, very good mild taste. It is better than Folgers, witch I love. A little on the spendy side but too worth it.

I first found Northbound when I lived in Sacramento. I’ve tasted some of the best coffee all over the world and that day in Shasta & Dunsmuir ranks right up there with organic lightly roasted bag of beans for twice the price! I’ll never go back to paying $50/lb as long as Keith is sourcing great peaberries and Jen keeps lightly roasting them. My favorite espresso that day in the roasting room was their American Beauty. I brew and drink a more simple cup so I load up on their Headstash offerings, especially if it’s an African Peaberry. Now that I live across the country I was pleasantly surprised at how fast and fresh the shipment arrived. I really appreciate the quality and value of the 5 pound bag now that I’m not local.

Amazing coffee beans. Among the best that I've had in the States. I stumbled upon them at Berryvale and these guys quickly became my favourite. I've had Spoonbender, Lamplighter and even their decaf, and I love them all. The down side is that I can no longer have coffee at all these other hipster cafes/roasteries that I've enjoyed frequenting because they now seem mediocre in comparison. Goodbye, social life.

Rich, aromatic coffee that tastes like you care about yourself. I’m a few decades in on drinking this espresso stuff, and Northbound is my last stop. I’ll try other beans now and again, but I can tell this is The One. Thank you to the Northbound team for the smiles I get as I wake the house with espressos-in-bed: my mornings are noticeably better because the coffee smells better, tastes better, looks better in the cup. Better coffee is a small thing, but life is made of these small things. Plus, insanely fast delivery! I'm grinding beans that arrived in the mail a few minutes ago, and my bank hasn't finished processing the payment from yesterday. (Oh - remember that you may need to change your grind when new beans arrive!)

So freaking good! Not only is their coffee fantastic, but they're super knowledge and welcoming at the roastery. Jen and Keith are usually there roasting and blending and always have a few minutes to chat about different tasting profiles and industry news. So nice having a local roaster in town. If you're driving through, make sure you stop by and get a few bags!

Northbound has been our go to coffee delivery service for several years now. Beans are always fresh and delivered on time. We love the variety of roasts that come with the coffee club subscription service. Give them a shot!

I discovered Northbound at my local Whole Foods in Noe Valley. We had long been looking for a rich dark roast that was organic and Spoonbender was exactly what we sought. We like to drink more coffee than our nerves can take, so we "mix it down" a bit with Derailer organic decaf in a 2:1 ratio. Yum! One day, we could no longer find Derailer on the shelves. Taking matters into our own hands, we contacted the Northbound team and now we order direct in 2lb bags of beans delivered to our door. It's been a couple of years of daily consumption, and our coffee is always a morning delight. If you're a coffee nerd and want more detail, Gage Hartford's review is awesome. I agree wholeheartedly, even if I use more heathen methods to brew...

Northbound has coffee beans for many tastes and uses. The Ethiopian Bokassa and Yirgacheffe are excellent single origin for both drip and espresso. The Guatemalan single origin is also great as both. The other cool thing they do are a couple espresso blends called Tiger Rose and American Beauty. Both pull a great shot and I like them for cappuccinos. Look out for the Fall and Spring tour coffees that are usually a single origin roasted to three different temps to up the complexity. I buy beans for many sources and can say Northbound holds their own with Wrecking Ball, Saint Frank, Intelligensia, Flying Goat, and the whole Portland crowd. I end up drinking about 75% Northbound due to quality, variety, price and being organic.

Some of the best roasts I've ever tasted, and I'm from an area renowned for both selection and snobbery. Their Yirgacheffe, a favorite bean of mine, is especially standout. Truly a roaster that you can drink from all day and never get bored. Burr ground and Chemex brewed, Northbound never fails to satisfy and impress my guests and studio clients. Great people, great coffee!

I can't say that I have been there - I have not. I hope to visit someday. I order their whole beans online and put their work/product at or above the best coffee roasters in the SF Bay area. Their beans travel through my Rocky grinder on their way to espresso or french press to liquid bliss. They offer a small but wide range of roasted beans and it is probable that you will find one that is your sweet spot for now. I highly recommend this team and product. Well done!
