Came in to check inventory the previous Saturday, and had the oddest exchange I've ever had after visiting 5 other Motorcycle dealers in the 4-state area over many years. We're in our 30's and were dressed in full motorcycle safety gear (we rode in), I'm 6' and wife is 5'7, and both of us have our motorcycle license. Kevin Swope hovered too close while we were trying to look at the models and discuss with ourselves about them, but some sales guys do that. The odd part: He kept trying to hold the handlebars when we sat on a bike, such as the W800 and KLR, while I kept trying to assure him that we were good and understood how to sit on a motorcycle (Grabbing a riders handlebars is also dangerous)... When it came to sitting on the KLR he said we had to be at least 6'2 to ride one, I thought that was odd.. far above the average height of the people who make them, and also above those I usually see ride them. Keep in mind, that we've tested other bikes just as tall, heavier, and more expensive such as the $18k Honda Africa Twin, whose dealers have had no issues with us mounting and sitting on one, then dismounting, without even hovering nearby. When we mounted the KLR he acted nervous and kept trying to grab the handlebars to hold them, which in turn made us nervous and uncomfortable and we decided to leave after this.

Great experience. I inquired about the bike (Z900) the morning I picked it up. I was able to have the deal basically done before I arrived which was great considering I had to make a 2 hour drive, one way. Eric Feichtl reached out and was very helpful with the whole process. Erin in finance was also extremely helpful and I would recommend anyone looking for a new toy to start at Jay Hatfield powersports in Frontenac.

A nice experience for this smaller dealership on the north side of Pittsburg/Frontenac area. Well maintained grounds with friendly staff. Went in for an oil change that ran about $45 and took about 45 minutes. The scheduling office had me for a different Jay Hatfield location for the oil change but this location saw to me right then and there. I can't say anything about the salesmen but after my experience with the shop, you should at least check them out.
