5 Best grocery store in Redondo Beach, California (CA) 2024

Wish they had a refrigerated/frozen section, but other than that, the people here are super friendly... Some are even BUBBLY. The best part is that unlike 'a major competitor' who once maintained a 99 cent per item inventory, Dollar Tree has stayed true to their name - "DOLLAR Tree' as in items cost A SINGLE DOLLAR. This is a great little Whole Foods in a nice beach community. Not as large as the one in Torrance but offers a good selection of foods and vegetables and always fresh. The selection of grab-and-go wasn’t huge but still has the usual options albeit not as much choice. Staff are as always friendly and helpful and it’s always good that whole foods offers paper bags to carry out goods which are far more environmentally acceptable. A great little place to pick up food and nearby offers options such as a few fast food outlets ~Andrew

Less and less, I still shop here for their prices, but the check-out process is *terrible* at times depending on the cashier -- just like the other nearby location. The young woman was so hateful and unfriendly and refused to converse on a civilized level. Hateful to the point of deliberate and rude. Same as other store, if you buy more than a few items, the customer behind in line starts pushing you out of the way like a stampede as the line builds up. So, unlike Vons you are hated if you buy a full cart... and when the customer in the next line was short on his credit card the manger said "Your card was declined!" loudly for everyone to clearly hear -- whereas in Vons the balance would have been quietly taken and she would ask for the remainder. Bottom line: Vons is a far superior experience than either local Smart & Final solely because the check-out experience is vastly superior and more professional at Vons. I hope S&F management makes *radical* changes as I am now increasingly avoiding them and I'm sure others are too -- even with these fluffy 5-star reviews. ~Richard

My wife and I came just to check it out for the first time. Seems pretty well organized. Once inside there were definitely some bargains. We bought 5 pounds of apples for $3.99. The only negative was that there were 6 people in line and only one cashier. Not the end of the world but could be better. Maybe it was bad timing on my part. All in all very nice store, we'll be back, at least for the apples! 😉 ~db
