My brother recently began dialysing here at this facility but I now have grave concerns. His hemoglobin levels, which are checked during each session, were critically low on 2 occasions within a week. This is not out of the ordinary. What concerns me is that the results are not given until the next open business day, which for the Davison location is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So for the critical results from the Monday draw were relayed to us on Wednesday and we went straight to the ER for a blood transfusion. Then, the critical low hemoglobin results from Friday sat on someones desk all weekend until Monday. By the time he was taken by ambulance his oxygen saturation level was 60% !! He is now on a ventilator in ICU!
When I tried calling the facility to speak with someone, ....anyone....regarding this serious miscommunication there simply was no person to answer any of the extensions provided by the automated system and the administrators as well as the social workers voicemail boxes were "FULL" so I couldn't even leave a message. My brother nearly died from this facilities and their laboratory's unacceptable policy regarding critical results. ~Julie
