You have to ask for help. Customer service is not in their vocabulary, they think giving platitudes and condescension is good customer service; Lip service is what it is.
Rentals gave us faulty equipment, we returned it (1 of 3 available). We go back to rent the equipment again about a week later, they plug in (2 of 3) and it does not work properly. They grab 1 again, their tech supposedly looked at it and cleared it as working, we get it to the house and it is doing the same exact thing. Back to the Depot we go. The third device? It actually works! It only took four trips.
Initially, there was no apology, it took a call to management to get that. Why would a piece of equipment be put back on the floor still not working properly? Unbelievable.
I cannot recommend home depot. Unfortunately, there are limited equipment rental options in the area (maybe they understand you're stuck?). ~Ian
