ALDI

Large, German based, owned and operated discount grocery chain that opened its doors in 1948. Taking a no frills approach, stores stock their shelves with mainly house-brand items in open boxes on shelves, bulk items on pallets and a wide array of fruits and vegetables. Dairy, deli, frozen, meats and bakery offers a reduced variety compared to major grocery chains. Very small section of personal hygiene, seasonal items and soda varieties can be purchased. Produce can be hit and miss on quality and shelf life is short. This laidback approach cuts the cost, returning the savings back to the consumers. Some of their cost savings can be annoying, like paying a quarter for the grocery cart that is refunded when you return the cart. Or no plastic or paper bags are available, but reusable bags can be purchased at checkout. Your items are placed back into a cart and you have to move to a bagging area to bag your own groceries. If you forget your recyclable bags and wish not to purchase theirs, you may find discarded boxes available in the bagging area. One certainly cannot purchase all that one would find in a normal grocery store, but routine shopping here can set your sights on regularly available items. This store was overall clean, reasonably stocked and comparably priced to other retail grocery chains. Check-out was quick and easy with the usual approach of moving the masses with little to no verbal exchange with the customers. ~Philip

Hy-Vee Grocery Store

This last Saturday (4/9), we decided to venture out to brunch knowing one of our young boys (age 5) has a severe allergy to eggs. He loves pancakes so we decided to call around to see if any restaurant had an egg-free mix. I called HyVee West Circle and their mix did have eggs, but since they are slower on Saturday mornings, they could make sure to not cross contaminate. We ended up trying it out. The moment we walked in the door, my son told the hostess he was allergic to eggs. She asked if we were the ones that called and we said yes. They had already went into the store and bought an egg-free mix for my son. I literally almost started crying. From there, we had fantastic service by Cate and we were very pleased with the entire meal. Thank you so much for accommodating our family. It has been challenging adjusting to this new condition, but with the extra effort from your staff, it was a positive experience. Once again, thank you! We will be back! ~Missi

Costco Pharmacy

This pharmacy has been a wonderful change of pace for us. Our dog is on some expensive medication that other pharmacies have put us through the ringer to get. The meds are filled quickly, actually ready to pick up when they say they are ready, and are less than half of the price that we've paid elsewhere. These guys were absolute lifesavers, we were completely in shock after we picked up our first refill, and they have not disappointed since. ~Jasmine

Caribou Coffee

Close to the highway and main thoroughfare. Parking lot is awkward to navigate and shared with a maintenance shop. I recommend parking on the side of the lot that faces the avenue. Busy at 6:30am. Service is polite and efficient with taking orders. Drive through takes priority so if you're in a rush use the app to order ahead. Plenty of seating and an open atmosphere. Noise level is loud. But it's a coffee shop, so lots of people talking and coffee being made. Great spot for a drink with friends. ~Aubrey
