I ordered a shelf unit online. After assembling most of it there was a factory defect. It took me weeks to get this far. Not because it was complicated but because I'm disabled and in pain. Jason at customer support was efficient and helpful. He said it was OK that I just couldn't take every piece apart. I brought it to the closest store, the Centereach location. I wasn't planning to do this today but I was 1 day past the 30 day return policy. I spoke with Bill, the manager. What a pleasure! He was professional, respectful & just plain NICE! He got Hector the furniture manager, also so helpful and nice! They were sorry it happened and both went out of their way to make the return so fast and painless, literally! I don't like asking for help but I was already in pain from putting everything in my car. I didn't have to ask! As Bill walked to my car with me to take the heavy box and 2 assembled frames, Hector was busy inside with the packing slip processing my return which I didn't know. I assumed I had to follow bill back inside but Hector suddenly appeared at my car with my refund receipt! I was speechless!
I asked them if that was it? I can just go? I was in disbelief! They said "of course!" as Hector made sure I know I won't see the refund for 2 days.
Even though the factory defect wasn't my fault, somehow I figured I was going to have to argue, mostly for not taking everything apart. Instead, I was so impressed with the way they act⁹ like they appreciate their customers! I will definitely be back. They have great deals, I just have to be up to shopping.
Big Lots, TREAT YOUR EMPLOYEES GOOD! YOU HAVE AN AMAZING STAFF!! Even the cashier I approached to ask for the manager was a very polite young lady!
