"A Wilmington business owner pleaded guilty Monday to using a camera disguised as a pen to shoot video of his employee using the bathroom in his College Road shop.
Timothy Taylor Freeman, 39, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of secret peeping and was given a suspended jail sentence of six to 17 months on each count. He was ordered to serve 36 months on probation, undergo a mental health evaluation and not possess a camera outside of his cellphone.
The allegation came to light July 3, 2013, when an employee at Yellow Dog Discs, 351 S. College Road, discovered a camera disguised as a pen in the unisex employee bathroom.
Assistant District Attorney Janet Coleman said the teen girl called her father, who came to the shop and took a 16gb SD card out of the pen. When he watched the videos, he saw his daughter using the bathroom twice and saw a male coworker using the bathroom once, Coleman said. The father turned the card over to investigators who also found a video that showed Freeman adjusting the angle of the camera so that it was pointed at the toilet. In a corner of the bathroom ceiling was the base for another hidden camera that was disguised as a smoke detector, Coleman said. That camera was not attached. The female victim asked Judge Phyllis Gorham to also require Freeman to register as a sex offender." ~Bando
