It is 6:20pm, the pharmacy closes at 9pm. There is barely anyone in the store, absolutely no one waiting in line at the pharmacy, and no one in the wait room. I can fully understand that the workload of any office/clinic/store can be heavy regardless the exterior view, but customer service regardless the circumstance is a always priority. I did not rush or have an attitude just simply trying to fill my prescription while sick. I typically go to CVS to fill my prescriptions, but this pharmacy is a block from my home and their hours state they don’t close for another two and a half hours. Mind you I am just trying to get a prescription cough syrup. Ruth is the Pharmacy Technician who finally notices I am waiting in line (no one else around I have been waiting for five minutes with no issues at all). The sight of me, she is annoyed to see me in line. Then she realizes I am trying to fill a prescription and she continues to huff under her breath in even more irritation. I let her know if she doesn’t have time I can go to another location to fill my prescription and she continues to begin the process on the computer. She asks if I have ever filled at this location, I respond no. That was her last straw she now shows even more frustration with me as if I have completely inconvenienced her, she has no time, and even more irritated with me. I once again let her know if she does not have time I can go else where. After several minutes of her unprovoked irritation she begins to enter my information into the system. I am now annoyed because I have done absolutely nothing wrong, but come in as a customer yet I have been treated with disgust in gestures, body language, and her huffing at my responses. I am annoyed at this unprofessional treatment. She then asks me if I would like to wait 15-20mins or come back tomorrow. I opted to wait as I have been dealing with this cough for 3 days. She goes on to explain that if there is a rush of people it won’t take 15 mins. Still minutes into the conversation there is absolutely no one around (in line or waiting). I acknowledged her comment and she repeated if there is a lot of people it won’t be 15 mins. Still no one around. I look around to be sure, absolutely no one. I go and have a seat. She comes out another several mins saying she can’t fill my prescription because my insurance (Moda) is out of network. I needed it regardless. I explained I did not appreciate her lack of customer service and would be reporting such. I asked for the pharmacist. I explained to her I very understanding to the heavy workload of a Pharmacy Tech, but to approach a customer with such disgust is completely unprofessional and further conversation should be had with staff if they choose to provide no customer service. Horrible experience and to say the least I will never fill my prescriptions here.
I opted to go to the next pharmacy near by (Rite Aid Aloha). I let know them I have cough suppressant prescription, I have not filled here, and that I have insurance. They greeted me promptly and courteously, confirmed my information and let me know it would be 15 mins. This is real customer service. It was less then 15 mins. The Pharmacist came to advise even without request. They were quick, they were kind, and they shown such wonderful customer service. Rite Aid Aloha is where you should go for great, speedy, and professional customer service. ~Natlie
