Star Auto Body & Alignments

My experience at Star was one of my worst nightmares come to life. I had a different body shop repaint my door for some rock chips, and while they did a good job, the color wasn't as good a match as it should have been. I asked Bobby and his crew (who my family have used for decades) if they could do a better job, to which they replied they could. I wanted them also to repaint my fender, which had some damage. No problem, they said. We agreed that while the match wouldn't be perfect, it would be close, and they would NOT blend into my rear door. Well, when I got my truck back, I was horrified at the work - and I only saw a fraction of what was done at that time. For starters, every major piece of trim they touched they damaged. A piece they shouldn't have removed was bent significantly, (they realized they couldn't - and shouldn't - take it off). It cost me $850 in parts to cover the damage they did, and that's to say nothing of the paint. They oversprayed onto my hood and truck bed, and marred the hood during their 'detail' work. This alone took me a weekend to fix. In the repainted panels, they left around 30 dirt nibs, fisheyes, and - worse of all - solvent pop down to the primer. All of this they assured me would buff out, which of course wasn't true. Finally, I couldn't figure out why my perfectly polished rear door was marred so bad - until I realized they had repainted it too. When I confronted them on this, they told me they did me a favor, even after we agreed they should not do it. They did refund me my money very quickly, but it only covered the trim damage they did, and I'm going to have to repaint all three panels they touched because they are, quite frankly, horrendous. Solvent pop and fisheyes can only be fixed by repainting, and even novice painters know not to send them out of the shop. Star told they don't have their old, experienced painters any more - wish they had told me that before they let a monkey work on my $63k truck. I've spent several weekends now trying to sand down orange peel, take care of dirt nibs and the like, and I just noticed that the bottom of my doors have horrendous coverage. Because the painter couldn't have been bothered to take my side step off, they failed to cover the bottom of the door, making it it look and feel like sandpaper, and ensuring it will be a clear coat failure point soon in the future. They told me they wanted to be known as a shop that could do high end vehicle work. Well, I wouldn't let them do my old Trailblazer for FREE, let alone my prized truck. ~Russell

Premier Truck Group of North Texas

What an amazing group of professionals! Cindy welcomed me on day one and they looked my 2017 American Revolution RV from front to back. The techs left very detailed notes on the repairs and made sure this coach was ready for our 5,000 mile trek around the US. I wish they were closer to my house because this is was right looks like! Thank you Cindy, Brandon and the entire team in Howe Texas! ~Doug
