Instant Karma records is a tricky shop to rate. While the store has a very deep and eclectic selection and was a joy to browse, the prices were absolutely outrageous. Pretty much everything that caught my eye was marked up well beyond a reasonable price. Dollar bin albums were priced at like $8, $10 & $12 (with a discount for purchasing multiples). Other new records were marked up similarly - I noticed some at over double the median price on Discogs. So while the store was a delight to wander through, I can't ever see myself making purchases here. I strive to support local businesses but not to the point of being robbed. 3/5, a fun museum of music and pop culture good for killing 20 or 30 minutes.

Cool place, lots of records to dig through! They have a huge array - from records for just a couple bucks to rare ones costing over $100! The people working there were super nice and very knowledgeable about the records. Great experience!

Really cool record store. Lots of great records but all at Discog prices which is the new norm I guess. Still a great place that I'll be hitting up every trip to Orleans

Outrageously overpriced records both used and new. I’d feel like a rube supporting this business and their pricing habits. Also be aware that a majority of their “new” records are counterfeit releases that look like the real deal. Approach with caution and don’t let your vacation eyes and spending be taken advantage of…

A real-deal record shop who owners have a deep love and knowledge of music and music history. I've bought a few records here, including a rare find over the years when visiting the Cape. Definitely worth your time to check out Instant Karma if you happen to be in the area.

I go to a lot of vinyl shops throughout New England. Each summer I spend time on the Cape, and just about each year I visit Instant Karma. I keep wanting it to be a great shop, as it has that potential. It's not. While it is true that they have a fine selection, several factors lead me to offer only a 2 star rating. (1) Vinyl here is way overpriced. Records you would find in the $1 and $2 bins in other stores sell for $18 - $25 here. (Cat Stevens - Back to Earth anybody?). (2) Worse, you cannot actually remove a used record from the sleeve to look at what you're getting (which is a must for buying used vinyl, and the norm in used record stores). Records are taped shut in an external plastic sleeve. (3) The store doesn't use a standardized rating system, such as Goldmine, (again, the norm) which rates records as Near Mint (NM) Very Good Plus (VG+), etc, which is essential if you are not allowed to look at the vinyl! Instead, they use terms like "good" and "nice". What is the difference between good and nice?!? Can you be more vague? Each summer I go back, as it's really the only show in town. Each year i am disappointed.

The Best on the Cape for vintage vinyl (and new). It also has a bunch of music memorabilia, t-shirts and stuff! Great shop in a cool building with awesome employees and a very knowledgeable owner, don't miss it!

Instant Karma Records is a great store specializing in vinyl and other music memorabilia. It is located right on 6A in Orleans with parking available. The records are well presented and the staff was friendly and helpful when I visited. I shall be back to shop every time I stay at the Cape, I found some great albums.
