The upcycling of an old church into the Provincetown Library is truly a sight to see. The addition of modern amenities, woven into the historic building, is very well done. The story of the building’s history is well told with wall plaques throughout. The one half scale replica of the Rose Dorothea, a Grand Banks fishing schooner, on the second floor spurs the imagination of young and old and really ties to the history of the town. The household appliances ‘lender’ area is such a great idea and yet another way libraries are places that help bind a community together.

This is one of my favorite places, and certainly my favorite library. It is housed in a gorgeous building and boasts a 1/2-scale replica of the Rose Dorothea schooner. There are also fantastic views of the bay from the upper floors.

What a charming library! Whenever I visit a new place, I head to the library, and this is definitely one worth reviewing. I was here on the off season, and as much as I wanted to spend time on the beach, watching the water, it was too cold most days to enjoy the outdoors for extended periods of time. But then I discovered the third floor of this library, which has two armchairs set up in front of a window with incredible bay views. I sat here for hours reading. This library also gets points for what seems like a very extensive book collection, friendly librarians, intuitive setup and the ability to join the library even as a visitor. I wanted to borrow some books for my time here, and they made it easy and painless to do so. I think I would come back to Ptown just for the library!

It’s worth a visit just for the boat with full sails that stands on second floor! Awesome area for kid on hot days, with lots of pop-up books that are hard to find elsewhere, a play area with clothes for dress up, and a pretend wooden kitchen. Also on second floor, the art and craft area is equipped with a large kids table, kids chairs, and a sink to clean hands and tools. A small nursing area sits right next to it. Computers are available with educational games for kids of different ages. Restrooms are large enough to fit a stroller, and always clean.

Beautiful building, clean restrooms, nice architecture. Also, there's a boat in the building on the second floor, definitely worth going upstairs to see!
