This place is amazing! My 7 y/o and 3 y/o had a couple of private lessons with Mike Matteo, Grace, and Chris at the South Philly location. After a year of swim lessons at another facility and a summer of lots of camp swim my 7 y/o wasn’t yet able to swim a full lap. After a couple of sessions with the Fitness Alive coaches she can backstroke, freestyle, and breaststroke the length of the pool. They really know their stuff and were able to help her organize her skills for big overall improvement. My 3 y/o had only done mommy and me classes before but was entirely at ease with Grace and Chris, and also picked up a lot of skills. We’re so impressed with how much they learned in just a few visits and can’t wait to return.

In the most challenging of gym operation scenarios Fitness Alive has put together the safest of protocols. We are happy to bring our kids here and enjoy watching them grow at the hands of their first-rate instructional staff.

We took our 11 month old to the Baby Bubbles class for the first time and had a great experience! Miss Holly runs a great class! She is so engaging for the little ones. We look forward to going back! I highly recommend the class.

Our oldest daughter has been taking swim lessons here since she was 5. We started with a group class and eventually changed to private lessons, all with great instructors. Heather was her favorite :) . Now she’s in a pre-competitive swim class with Breanna and loves it. They invested in updating the area around the pool with a beautiful mural recently, and all of the staff are incredibly friendly. Andrea who handles scheduling is helpful, kind and efficient! And they have family swim classes the first Friday of the month! Before Fitness Alive we went to the YMCA on Christian Street, which we liked but was a bit further from our house. Love that we can quickly walk or drive now. There is a small parking lot with 7-8 spots (which you can grab if you are lucky) as well as nearby 2-hour on-street parking.

As much as I wanted to like this pool (salt water public pools are hard to come by), it smelled strongly like chlorine the moment I stepped in and my son's bathing suit had the unmistakable chlorine pool smell afterwards as from a regular pool. I was very surprised because I have been to other salt water pools indoor and the experience of chlorine smell was very different: there was no chlorine odor and the suit hardly ever smelled like chlorine after being in other indoor salt water pool. Smell sense is subjective,but from now on I will go and smell before I buy lessons at a salt water pool since I know it should not smell like chlorine.

Our daughter started with a few 'baby bubbles' classes at the age of 1 and now, at 3.5 years old, is engaged in swim lessons twice a week. She loves the water and has no fear! We are extremely grateful for the care & expertise shown by the Fitness Alive team. Our daughter is constantly telling us how much fun she has with her 'coaches'. Thank you!

My son has been taking lessons for 3 years with Breanna at Fitness Alive, since he was just under 2 y/o, and my daughter for one year, starting at 2, as well. Now at 5 and 3, they are sooo confident and comfortable in the water. We spend a lot of time in pools and the ocean and I’m so impressed and grateful for their abilities in the water! The entire team and FA is wonderful with their students, patient and so great with their instruction. My kids are already great swimmers and I could not be more grateful. There are always scary stories in the news about drownings, so if you are considering lessons for your child DO IT! And choose Fitness Alive! You will not be disappointed!

We had a traumatizing experience here. Our twin four year olds had swimming lessons at Fitness Alive in center city. We had semi-private lessons. The instructor took one of the twins to have her practice strokes while she had the other twin hold onto a railing in four feet deep water. The instructor was not paying attention to the twin at the railing and was distracted. The twin at the railing accidentally let go and was completely submerged in the water, struggling for her life. I had to jump in to retrieve her (her mom). She is fine, but it was a close call. They had no life guard on-duty. If you are taking lessons here, please be vigilant of your child, especially if you do not have one-on-one lessons. Fitness Alive has assured me that they will now have lifeguards...but given that Pennsylvania law does not require it, please keep them honest.

Nice little indoor pool. We came in for a drop-in baby and toddler class. The changing room was clean, the pool was cool but tolerable, and our instructor was wonderful with the little ones.

I'm so excited we came across this place. The instructor is incredibly nice but also very forward. She is very passionate about swimming and wants to give as much of her knowledge to parents and children. Our 7 month old really enjoyed it and we are looking forward to returning.
