We awoke on Christmas Day to find our basement under a foot and a half of water. We were referred to Mellon by a friend of ours, and I'm grateful for the referral. Charlie Merkel responded to our call within an hour, and was out to survey the damage promptly on the 26th. His team arrived shortly after and did a fantastic job. Charlie and his team were incredibly responsive and put our minds at ease. If we ever find ourselves in a similar situation (and I hope we don't), Mellon will be our first call. Service: Water damage-related cleanup & repair

I recently had water damage from a bathtub leaking into the kitchen. Our insurance company recommended Mellon. I've had a lot of frustrating experiences with various contractors lately, and working with Mellon was a breath of fresh air. They communicated throughout the process, gave us a detailed estimate, showed up when they said they were going to, did good work, and charged a very reasonable price to replace our drywall, paint, and install light fixtures- less than half of what another company charged just to tear the damaged drywall down. I recommend them and would use them again.

We had a flood in our basement a week before leaving the for a trip and Kurt Bartell from Mellon Certified came to our house and made it happen and all the work was completed and looked fantastic a day before we left! We are so appreciative for all the effort of Kurt, Dan, Dennis Sr and Dennis Jr who did the work. Definitely we would use Certified again for future projects! Totally profession, nice people, and excellent quality and communication! Thank you so much!

I had water damage in a rental property that affected two floors and the garage. Two insurance companies were involved. It was taking way too long to get to an agreement with the insurance company that had to cover the damages in the end. Tim from Mellon Certified came to my house, assessed the damage and talked to the insurance company. The renovations started right afterwards. The house looks amazing now. Thanks Tim for all your work and specially for keeping me posted about the progress in a regular basis!

Christina and Jensy did an amazing job. After my dryer caught on fired there was dust from the fire extinguisher and smoke all over my laundry room and kitchen. They came the next day and started cleaning right away. They were not only nice but they were very detailed and fast when cleaning. They even talked with me to make sure that they were taking care of all the areas I needed clean. I thought I would have to take the day off and stay home all day while they cleaned the kitchen, laundry room and carpets, but it only took them a few hours. They are very efficient. 5 stars to Christina and Jensy!!!

10 days after a pipe burst in my second floor guest bathroom and Mellonnhad been hired by USAA to conduct the remediation), I discovered a wet closet 3 feet from where all the water came directly through the ceiling to the first floor. Most items were covered in mold and the rug in the closet was soaking wet. Unreal. After hours of stalking the project manager who failed to return my call, I was finally patched through to him. He reluctantly agreed to send someone out. The man they sent out was argumentative, told me he ‘has done this for a long time and there’s no mold in the closet and it’s not wet.’ I showed him the 15 items with mold festering on them and the wet cement slab in the closet, the wet rug I had removed myself. Only after getting backed into a corner did he spray some sort of anti microbial agent. They Are negligent and have essentially allowed mold to grow in a wet dark climate for 10 days and then told me it was fine. They don’t do their job and when pinned down, they lie. Do-Not-hire!!!! USAA needs to remove them from their preferred vendor list immediately and I’m happy to help with my two cents.

Truly outstanding experience! The team at Mellon went above and beyond in getting our house back in shape after substantial water damage. Our neighbors had a very positive experience with them in the past and recommended them - and I am glad they did! Specifically: - Mellon communicated with us very frequently and were very easy to reach. - They drew up both tentative and final realistic timetables with plenty of buffer for the unexpected. In our case, they worked on a very tight timeline to get our house back in order before our baby was due. Unexpected issues did arise, but Mellon still finished their work ahead of schedule (and just days before the baby came early!). - Their general approach was to do far more than the minimum necessary. (As an example, their painting was far better than both my own paint job and painters we had previously hired for other parts of the house.) - In the same vein, their craftsmanship and attention to detail frankly left our house looking better than before the damage even occurred. Overall, Mellon was a pleasure to work with, and without reservation I enthusiastically recommend them.

The worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. We had a flood in our house back at the end of August. It is now April and my home is still in shambles. They did shoddy work, just painting over oil-based trim so it's all bubbling, after they had a painter out here three times. They told my insurance company they were installing hard wood floors and put in some cheap composite that dents and scratches. Their workers left my house covered in dust and filthy every time they came out - including when they knocked on my door at 7:30 am to use my bathroom. The floor installers also cracked my glass closet door and put a whole in my wall, which Mellon never fixed. The toilet in my basement is sitting unconnected in the middle of the room. There was absolutely no communication about what they were doing or what was going on with the project. They never answer phone calls and when I call the main office, I get promises that are not fulfilled. We were finally fed up enough to fire them and try to collect our losses to hire people who can actually fix our home but they are once again ignoring us. Yet, I manage to keep getting an invoice for work they never completed. I am nine months pregnant and spent my entire pregnancy dealing with this. I can't even put my son's nursery together because they won't settle up so we can hire someone competent to fix our house and the mess they made. We went with them thinking it would streamline the process and get our lives back to normal--huge mistake!

Brian D. And Eric B. from Mellon Restoration really came through for my family. During one of the harshest winters I’ve experienced in Philly, my family and I were preparing for another military transfer. We were busy with all the things associated with moving our lives across the country. In the midst of our move - in fact, within days of loading up our truck and driving south - freezing temperatures rolled in one night and overwhelmed our newly vacant home, which was scheduled to close with a buyer that week. Despite every precaution, our 60 year old pipes froze, burst, and flooded our home, destroying our wood floors, most of the ceiling above the kitchen, and several inside walls both upstairs and down. With the sale of our house on hold for repairs, I was unable to close on a home at my new duty station. My family of four had to rent a small one bedroom (one bed) temporary quarters with no kitchen or refrigerator for over two months while trying to coordinate repairs from over a thousand miles away with realtors, relocation companies, the insurance company, and other contractors. After countless delays and mishaps, and losing a buyer for our home, I can tell you the levels of anxiety and frustration had peaked. Unplanned expenses were bleeding our savings much quicker than anticipated. With little hope or confidence in people to do the job they promised to do, we reached out to Brian from Mellon Restoration and informed him of our situation. On January 22, we gave him our proposed closing date and asked if he could get all the repairs done by January 30th. Brian and Eric went after the repairs with a new aggressiveness that was sustained to the very last minute. I understand Eric, the production manager, jumped in on the labor to help get the job done with his crew over the weekend before my deadline. Overtime was required for their employees, which Mellon absorbed instead of billing to my insurance company, which would have caused additional delays. Within minutes (literally) of Mellon completing the job, my realtor showed the house to a buyer who loved the completed work so much, she made an offer on the spot. Brian and Eric, thank you very much for the hard work.

I cannot say enough good things about Mellon Certified Restoration. One month after a 5 month long renovation of 4 bathrooms in my home, sewage backed up into and out of my basement guest bathtub and toilet into the fully carpeted guest bedroom/ closet/ large living area. Mellon was sent out by USAA, my insurance company, that same evening at 9:30 pm to do the initial cleanup, disinfection, removal of affected drywall, baseboards, insulation and wall to wall carpet and pad. They returned over the course of the next 5 days with special equipment to dry/dehumidify, and clean the air. My out of town Thanksgiving guests were able to stay in the basement guestroom just a few days later—no odor at all. Every single employee was respecful, kind, courteous, helpful, sympathetic, understanding, and hardworking. There were at least 3 people for the cleanup. Because I was so pleased with their cleanup work, and because USAA recommended Mellon for the restoration, I used them for the restoration as well. The Yeadon Branch manager did the quote for the insurance company. The restoration involved moving all furniture out including 7 floor to ceiling book cases, packing 100 boxes of books and LP vinyl records, replacing and painting drywall and baseboards, removing and replacing 1000 sq ft of carpet. All of this was accomplished in FOUR days by 8 people. Everything was put back in the EXACT order in which it was found—books, LP’s, knick knacks, furniture. The only difference was that everything was dusted and cleaner than prior to my sewage catastrophe. I have sung my praises of Mellon Restoration (Philadelphia Metro Branch in (Lansdowne) Yeadon, PA) to all of my friends and my homeowners association.
