Great place for family and friends visiting from out of town or to go on a date. There's no dress code so expect a mix of casual and formal. They are very friendly and welcoming like most Va wineries and breweries and dogs are allowed as well. They do without a doubt have one of the nicest and best if not THE best tasting rooms in Va. The food is the real deal locally sourced and seasonal. Some may find it pricey compared to others, but the overall entire experience makes it worth it.

Wine is very good. Beautiful property too, but that's not the straw breaking our backs. What is a bottle of Cab Franc without the service and food we ordered? Minute after minute, with empty stomachs abound, we saw our table and other tables not receive their food before others that had arrived later. The kicker? The staff didn't think about selling another bottle! Where's the upsell to take advantage of our clear distress in need of food with bare glasses designed to carry Virginia's finest? Clearly, We were clearly thirsty for a refill. Oh, of course, we would have loved to eat our charcuterie board with the wine but after 45 minutes I needed to talk with the staff for help. Let's get this fixed, please.

Absolutely gorgeous grounds and Tasting Room. The atmosphere is top tier with ambient big band and jazz music. We tried two flights; one red and one white. I wish the wines were enough of a reason to return. Wines were uninspiring, without much desirable flavor, and mostly tasted like alcohol. I certainly wouldn’t purchase any of the eight we sampled for consumption at a later date. Our meal options were a part of a special event. We sent one dish back as the flavor profiles were inedible. The dish had a strong, malodorous, unappetizing odor that was off-putting to other members of our party. The tenderloin was delicious.

Stopped by on our way to Charlottesville for a quick weekend trip. The winery is beautiful (and back patio, although not open for food or drink service while we were there due to wind, was even nicer) and the staff were great. I loved the large open 'grand hall' feel of the main room. The wine was also some of the better Virginia wine I've tasted. We did a Fireside Tasting (reds) and two glasses of the Petite Manseng (really liked this one for a white, and I don't normally like whites) and the Barboursville Nebbiolo Reserve. The Cab (in the fireside tasting) wasn't bad but was - as advertised - nowhere near as full bodied as a California cab. The food was a bit disappointing. We ordered the chilled Maine lobster in the roasted beet salad. The beet salad was delicious -- although I personally found the accompaniment of row to be a bit odd. The chilled main lobster tasted old/fishy and was overcooked. Our server (I regret not getting his name) was VERY knowledgeable and talked all about Virginia wines and the history and community of the industry. He wasn't bloviating like some do at wineries and really did make the day for us. If not for the food (and the chilled maine lobster, specifically) I would have given 5 stars. I look forward to returning when it's a bit warmer and less windy and enjoying a few more tastings and other dishes on their back patio overlooking the mountains.

We had a pleasant time here, although we started in the patio, but had to move inside as the temp dropped. Tried a few wine flights amongst the six of us and settled on our favorites. Staff was wonderful and the service was very good. Nice place to hang out and sample some wines.

Stunning views, fantastic wine, great service, delicious food, and wonderful ambiance. We've tried may of the Charlottesville area wineries and this is one of our top 3 favorites. Outdoor areas allow dogs as well, which is a huge plus for us. Views: the outdoor patio, both front and back, has expansive views of the Virginia countryside and the vineyards. There are lots of seating options, from casual (picnic tables and large wooden chairs) to full service tables. Umbrellas offer protection and bistro lights provide lighting. Fire pits are also available season Wine: EMV offers a wide range of reds, whites, sparklings, and roses. They offer a variety (easily 15+) of their own, as well as area/Virginia vineyards. Flights are available to try different varieties and the 2oz pours make the flights an absolute treat. There were 4 available when we visited and we tried two, followed by individual glasses. The wine is well priced for the quality and pour sizes. While we preferred some styles over others, we enjoyed all eight from the flights as well as a ninth variety by glass. Absolutely beautiful wine. Service: we had a small lunch in addition to the flights on the outdoor patio. Our server was kind, attentive, and lovely. The indoor service is equally top notch, and our previous experiences with the tasting counter echo this experience. Food: our server noted that the chef is from Inn at Little Washington, which explains why the menu is top notch. Majority of foods are local and season flavors. While a somewhat limited menu, it is creative, tasty, and fresh. We started with a cranberry-ginger chèvre and fresh bread that was to die for. We absolutely loved the pork belly small plate as well as the risotto. Our wine complemented the food well. Price is a tad high, but the quality of the food, attention to flavors, and final presentation make it worth it. Ambiance: the inside is cozy and welcoming, especially during the winter months (fire place in the center). The layout is expansive but feels intimate at the same time. While we had our dog with us, we'd love to eventually eat inside one day. We took three bottles home and already looking forward to returning.

Very beautiful property. Has a lot of space for guests to walk around. We made a reservation at 1:15 and arrived on time, but didn’t get seated until 1:25 or so. The server at our table was great—friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about their wine/food. The food itself tastes great, but the portions are very very tiny, with pretty high prices. It’s a good place for snacking, but not good value for a full meal.

Food - 5 Atmosphere - 5 Service - 5 Value - 4 One rarely expects good food from a wine-centric venue such as this, but i was thoroughly impressed. It was seasonal, locally sourced (they list their sources!), and fresh. The pork belly was a switch up from the typical salty/savory style - it was sweet and nutty and earthy, and the crispy bed on Brussels sprouts beneath did the lifting on the savory. Very smart miso-based sauce with it. For the chevre plate was also interesting, and the figs were delightfully fresh (un-refrigerated). The venue gets top marks. Excellent place for a wedding. I would note that their value for wine is entirely reasonable, with their local offerings and offerings from their own estate; however, two people will need 4-5 small plates or appetizers, and they are each the price of a typical entrée.

Early Mountain Vineyards for brunch was an excellent choice! We order a red wine flight, even though they do not offer as part of the menu, the manager accommodated our request. The brunch was excellent too. One suggestion, if you have kids, it might be difficult in terms of food. The menu is very limited and do not have kids friendly options. We also ask, and were told only menu items. I still rate 5 star vineyard!
