This place looks fancy, but service is 💩💩💩💩💩. I was already weary because gratuity was included and usually the service is variable whether it will be good or bad. ALL bad here. The first two dishes I ordered: lotus root and shishito peppers were not available… why didn’t I know what was unavailable upon arrival or ordering 🤔 Each time they didn’t have a dish, it took about 20-30 mins to get notified. I tried ordering the crab wontons, well they ran out of that by the time I ordered it (big surprise) so I settled on shrimp tacos. I make better ones at home, but I was literally starving and I’m not a meat eater so had to choose something. I never received 2 dishes I ordered, we NEVER received water ever, I NEVER received the other drink I ordered AND I went to the bar to get a water and napkins. Napkins were given around the time we were leaving. Another person in the party sent the burger back about 4x because the instructions on that weren’t followed. They figured it out by the time we were leaving so they could charge for that. We were then informed by the server after 9:40pm that they stopped taking food orders at 9pm…oh really 🤔 It wasn’t just because the time was almost up for the reservation and the service wasn’t able to provide much service? The manager came to reiterate the message about the kitchen not making anymore food because I’m guessing the group of educated professionals didn’t understand. Manager had a putrid, condensing tone. We were offered 30% off on the NEXT time we come 🤨. One of the party asked why would we return if we didn’t get good service. The manager blatantly told a party of 10 “you don’t have to come back here”. When I said let’s just skip the 10 shots of patrón since we don’t have to come back, our service was horrible and we didn’t receive additional drinks although they were ordered 10-15 minutes prior, they made a mad dash to retrieve those shots so we could be charged for that… A party that spent over $500+ your approach to them is to say you don’t have to return? I guess they hire anybody. How is this business supposed to run with such service and lack do aptitude? We were here celebrating a friends birthday and no, I just can’t hop and skip to drive 6+ hours to return to a place that told us we don’t have to return for whatever personal reason. The 30% off the next visit was really unacceptable. This was a reservation for 10. The seating was not for 10 AT ALL! My husband and I had to grab our own seating to sit basically in the aisle. The restaurant staff did nothing to correct this and didn’t even offer to assist at all. It’s highly recommended they to stick to serving parties of 3 or even 2 or less. The poorest service I’ve ever had. Anytime when I have to go to the bar and get what my party needs, gratuity should be null and void. Also, a little surprise, there is 5% fee to breathe the air up there on top of the gratuity. SKIP THE KABANA & TRY PENNY LANE PUB! 😃Service there is quick and excellent! We received water and napkins within 3 minutes, food was tasty, and this place was full of patrons reflecting on their great service.

Food was decent but the atmosphere was awesome. They happened to have salsa night the night we went. I ordered the chicken picatta and the guacamole. Both were lacking some flavor, but not disgusting. The view is absolutely amazing. Not sure if there is a better view in Richmond. Will definitely come back if I’m ever in Richmond again.

The view...AMAZING! The service...AWFUL.... I made a 7pm reservation for 4...I walk in alone close to 7:05 while my husband parked the car. I obliged the sign dictating to stand close to the bar for seating. There was an older Caucasian couple in front of me. A young woman who was casually dressed up came to greet the couple asking if they had a reservation. They stated they did not and she proceeded to walk them to a table and pull the chair out. Meanwhile, I'm still standing there watching her have a short conversation with the couple; move another table and wipe it off, put some chairs up to it, go to the back of the restaurant, come back and, never address me. I asked the bartender if she was coming back to assist me as I had a reservation and, he said; "she should be over shortly!" After waiting almost 10 minutes...I approached her explaining that I figured I'd address her since apparently she didn't see me standing in the arranged area to be seated. I explained I had a reservation for 4 and she acted as if I was bothering her. She told me the area was open and I could find somewhere to sit. I explained that after making a reservation, I would expect that a seating arrangement would be waiting for my party...she gave me a blank stare and basically just nodded. After walking around the area, there was only 1 table with 4 chairs and a high table top bar like area looking over the city with 3 available chairs, and all of the kabanas. I went back to her and asked her about sitting at the Kabana...she said, "if you would've been spending $350 you could've sat there. I must have given her a look because she then asked if we were planning on spending that amount to which I responded...probably would've exceeded the amount particularly with the tip. I just walked away and chose to sit at the area overlooking the city. There were not a ton of people there but, it took soooo long for drinks and food to reach the table. We were patient as we understand the labor shortages. I ordered the lamb shank which was like butter! It was so soft and delicious. My husband and his friend ordered the ribeye, one medium and the other medium-well. They were both flavorless and overly well-done. My husband ate 1 bite of his and shared my dish with me. He told the waitress but there was no compensation of any sort. The manager never even came over to apologize for the time it took or the lackluster dishes. It took almost an hour to get the food and at least 20 minutes for each drink order. At the end...our bill was $240 and we tipped the waitress $60 as she was at least personable. Our friend's bill was close to $200 and they too tipped well....I understand there are other rooftop experiences that may not offer the view like this one but, has better service. I'll try those ones the next time we go instead of this...

Very Scenic Place.. Richmond View from here is extremely good..Hope it’s the best roof top restaurant in Richmond.. Went for a team event.. Only issue is Staffs are very rude.. Overall best place for view but not a good place for conducting events

I have never left a review before. But my experience was so bad at this restaurant that I had to make sure nobody else makes the mistake of going there. To start, they seem to not have enough staff because after being sat at a table for 20 minutes we finally had to go back to the host stand to ask where our waitress was. When she finally got to us, she did not give us a proper greeting, instead just asking if we had made our minds up about what to drink. When asked if she had any suggestions she simply said “No” and waited for us to make a decision (we decided on no drinks and to start with an appetizer.) After asking for the Lotus root and for the veggie trio, we decided to go with the cauliflower fritters. Unfortunately they did not come to us for about 45 minutes, and neither did our waitress. After deciding to just pay the tab and leave, my boyfriend asked to speak to the manager and our waitress agreed to go get her. After disappearing for another 25 minutes she comes back and informed us that the manager was just too busy and could not speak to us but to leave our name and information with her and that the manager would reach out to us. We decided not to do that. If you want to go somewhere where the music is blaring too loud to think and the waitresses forget about you, Kabana is the place for you! If you’re looking for good service and food that comes at a reasonable time maybe try Chic-Fil-A.

We were hesitant to go based on reviews. There is a mixed aged relaxed crowd. My husband and I had a great experience. From the menu I highly recommend the crab dip on tater tots also the chicken alfredo flatbread is decent. Since I don't really drink the bar made me a virgin mango drink that was so delicious. We have already preplanned our next dinner there.

Definitely BEST views in Richmond, Va! Good place to dress cute, get an awesome cocktail and take good pics from any angle with your partner or best friends!! Food....left a little to be desired.

I recently organized a surprise birthday party for my husband at Kabana with the help of a very responsive and professional manager, Shayla Perry. The newly remodeled space was amazing, the food was delicious, and the service was wonderful! Our guests loved the beautiful views and the catering with an open bar. The only constructive feedback was about the lack of shaded areas on the open rooftop in hot weather. But the new pergolas might be just perfect for adding some adjustable screens ;) We’ll definitely be back on many different occasions and will be happy to recommend this venue to anyone we know.

This place was more then great even on a night with not a lot going on. The views were great the atmosphere was amazing. Food and drinks was delicious! We had a amazing server her name was Erin definitely ask for her if you can she was the absolute best! Food and drinks came out really fast! I can’t wait to return here

I came here last week for the bottomless brunch and while the service was subpar, the food made up for it. It was delicious! I came back today and was awfully disappointed. I had brought a friend whom have never been to Kabana and I was EMBARRASSED to say the least. Just when I thought the service couldn’t get any worse, it did. One of the servers actually blew hookah smoke in my FACE while I was trying to eat my food. It wouldn’t have been okay in general, but it’s literally a pandemic. The food was COLD, EXTREMELY TOO SALTY, and they took such a long time putting out more food. I had been there for over an hour waiting for them to put new, fresh, food, and they didn’t. The staff was very unprofessional and everything was severely overpriced. Never again. My friend and I literally had headaches from how salty the food was. *First two photos are from the first time I went, last photo from today* Edit: I tried to reach out to the company about my experience and received no type of help, compensation, or sympathy. Please save your time and money and go elsewhere.
