Great! Friendly staff, pool well maintained, but the handicapped shower wasn't clean and there were no benches High enough for me to get up from.

I’m not a body builder. I’m an athlete. I work-out to surf better, not to build muscle. Unfortunately, I have to lift like a body builder because I have spinal cord injuries and can only do bench press and dips. (Fortunately, I can kind of still surf as long as my spine is well enough to put on a wetsuit!) Otherwise, I would be doing deadlifts and power cleans to get stronger, faster, and more explosive. Have you ever wondered why NFL players are getting less and less muscular compared to the past? I don’t want a bunch of big muscles that use a lot of oxygen making me fatigue faster. I do drop sets on compound lifts to build strength, not muscle. I will do 5 x 5 when I have a lot of weight on the bar to build strength and rest 3 minutes in between sets and stretch my hamstrings, get a drink of water and flex in the mirror (sometimes, lol) to do something productive while I pass the time. After I do the 5 x 5, I do drop sets on the rest of the weight, only resting long enough in between sets to take the weight off the bar to build endurance. I had a trainer at EWU with a PhD in exercise physiology. Should I do what other people think I should do with PhD’s in Bro Science or should I do what someone with a PhD in exercise physiology instructs people to do? I worked for Ameri Corps doing hard labor for 2 years to pay for my first two years of school. It's why I have a massive back and also a reason why I have spinal cord injuries. I'm not winning anyone over with my personality (I'm an Equalitarian, Civil Rights Activist and Truthteller working for racial and gender equality for everyone regardless of race and gender), so I would just straight up, flat out, physically out work everyone else. I can't do bent over rows, or seated rows or anything seated with my spine. I can't even sit in a chair or stand for longer than an hour. Still, I'm doing pretty well considering my challenges.

Good facility, decent equipment, but I moved out of the area, and when I went to cancel my membership, I was told that I will have to pay for another month because it takes a “30day notice of cancellation”. So even though I am a technology -idiot, I do know that it doesn’t take 30 days to remove my membership…. It would take only a few minutes to delete my info. I bet if I didn’t pay my dues that they wouldn’t let me continue to work out for 30 more days…. They would stop my membership immediately!!!!

I stop here as often as I can in a week. I try fitting in a routine after work. A huge part in my daily self care is taking time to relax in their sauna and steam room. The staff at this YMCA are so friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend to people looking for family fun as they have a great pool area and mom and dad can chill at the hot tub. Also to anyone looking for a good work out they have the gear. Come out and enjoy.
