We took our dog because she was suffering from vomiting and diarreah that was making her dehydrated. She hadn’t ate anything in a almost two days. Every other vet and emergency vet kept turning me down because it wasn’t that big of an “emergency”. I called Encina and they were very friendly on the phone and understanding. We brought our dog and they took great care of us. The doctor was very kind and worked with us in terms of service and costs. I have to say they are great and highly recommend them.

The person answering the phone is so rude I'm going to drive 75 miles just to go to our former vet where we lived in past years. She hung up on me when I had trouble understanding something because I was crying because my pet was sick. I was asking for clarification, and she mumbled something and hung up. Before she hung up on me she had an attitude toward me as if I was not welcome there because I've never been there before. It's a weekend 24hour pet ER, of course I haven't been there, my pets have never had an emergency before. Not sure I'd trust her with my sick baby.

I can't say enough good things about this facility! My pup was attacked Wednesday night. Yes, I lost my $hit mentally and emotionally. As I was frantically trying to figure out where that other place moved to, I called them. They couldn't take my girl in. They were at capacity with a 12 hour wait time. In the meantime, my pup has a deep laceration along her barbie crack (underneath where the thugh neets her belly) and punctures o. The outer thigh. They referred me to Encina and transferred the call. They tried. So I'm almost on the line with Encina, got the automated phone system. My hysterical self missed the prompts and was disconnected. I said to myself, "eff it" and went straight to Encina. I get there and was almost turned away. It was obvious I was not in a good state. My pup, however was calm. I suppose one of us had to be. Anyhow, the gal who came out saw my girl was in need and went to talk to the doc. She came back out and said the most magical words ever, "We can bring her in, but it will be a few hours." Yes! Please! Yes! So we went in. Once inside, they immediately offered a pain med. We were put in a room with nice comfy seating for the two-legged types. My girl was just standing around with the utmost look of despair. The staff at Encina brought my pup a blanket, water, and even water for me. Such a simple gesture goes a long way. Anyhow, an gour or so later, she was brought in to be fixed up. She was done within about 90 minutes or so. It was enough time for me to go home to Martinez, take a shower, and come back to Walnut Creek. The doc came out and explained the procedure and the damage that was done. My pup had layers of stitches on the laceration and a few for the punctures. She was sent home with meds and we have a follow up appointment to remove the drain tube. These folks here saw I was distraught and took immediately action. They are a caring, empathetic group of good people. I wish they weren't an emergency only vet so I can bring my pup here on a regular basis and I'm pretty choosy who sees my girl. Thank you so much Encina!! ❤🐶 More updates!! Riley had her sutures removed today and couldn't be happier!!! Thank you again Encina!! YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!! ❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️🐶

I highly recommend this veterinary!!! First visit my dog was attacked (by what I am not sure, I am thinking multiple very large raccoons) my dog was bleeding to death had already bled enough her hiend quarters were sucked in. Anyways when we walk through the door covered in blood they didn't hesitate what so ever walked us straight into the operating room, even moved another animal off the table. Had me set my dog down and asked if they could give her pain killers. Me not knowing weather she would survive due to the amount of blood loss I said "yes as much as u can", cause I didn't want her to be in pain if she did pass but they worked a miracle and she ended up surviving. She had stitches everywhere, vet even said "it looked like whatever attacked her was actively trying to rip her leg off". Second time we brought her in we noticed she was acting weird so we brought her in and found out she had piometra (uterus completely infected) and needed emergency surgery and gave us several options for the surgery due to price which was a blessing cause at the time we were financially hurting and they helped us with the care credit I believe it's called. They even said "we would let you take her out of here to look around for a second opinion but with how bad it is it could burst which would kill her we don't feel comfortable with her moving around". Long story short they saved her live again always a good experience at this vet and they r open 24 hours a day can't beat that never bringing my dogs anywhere else. Thanks again VCA Encina you guys are great

DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE! This place is poorly managed and basically chasing people out the door - all the negative reviews are true. I had rescheduled my first appointment with them because I learned their operations were delayed compared to what the county's COVID guidance was. They were still not allowing an owner in with their pet and I was not comfortable with that so I rescheduled - hardly an aggregious concern. After that I arrived at my second appointment to find they had just taken it upon themselves to cancel my appointment without any notification. They claimed it was because I didn't call them back after they left a voicemail. A VM that never mentioned a contingency on calling back to confirm the appt - I have the transcript still. Whatever I gave them a good yell and they just blamed it on me. Their "partnership" value is that they never make any mistakes and anything poor that happens is your fault, not theirs. They even blamed me for feeling uncomfortable around my first appt and rescheduling LOL! The Ops Manager, Christina, is horrible and exhibited this entitled, unhelpful behavior multiple times and honestly her staff has championed her behavior. My fiance used to work with the founder so maybe I'll reach out. Idk either way, we will not be giving them a 3rd chance and I look forward to their snarky response to this review (see any response they have below).

I had a great experience with Dr. Elizabeth M. and her assistant Alex. Dr. M. made poor Lucy feel comfortable. I was so happy to see my kitties favorite doctor in person! I always have a great experience, they are compassionate and very respectful. Thank you and see you soon! Margarite

Don't ever take your pet here! they treat you like you are at their mercy especially when you are in despair of dealing with a very sick pet. They talk down to you, and lie to about their process and everything! They are highly unprofessional and do not care about the very animals that they claim to treat or service. And their supervisor or anyone won't even utter a word of apology and refuse to take feedback, and when offered they will hang up on you(multiple times). This is a very problematic space for any pet loving owner to take their beloved. God knows how they throw around the speechless animals when they treat humans with least dignity and respect. Do you homework! and watch out.

We were visiting from out of town with our 3-month old puppy. I called and got a same-day appointment. We drove up and called (no one allowed inside due to covid). The vet tech came out and collected our pup. Within 10 minutes, the vet called me to give me an update. The vet tech returned with our pup, I paid online, and we were done in until 30 minutes. This place was amazing and really cared for us and our fur baby!

Dr. Priest and her staff were awesome. We came in on an incredibly busy day--many emergencies and twice the number of patients since the power went out at the other local emergency hospital. Even with all that, Dr. Priest was patient with us, did not rush, answered all our questions, called twice with detailed updates and recommendations and was very thorough and helpful. I would definitely bring our cat here again. Also, despite being an Emergency Medical Center, their prices are very reasonable. They honored their estimates. We've now been here for three separate emergencies and each time the final price was within the estimated range. We actually had requested a treatment that would have been more expensive (we were desperate to do anything to help our cat), but they took a more conservative and less expensive approach. They could have easily done the expensive procedure we requested, and we would have happily paid for it, but their best interest was for our cat and not taking advantage of anyone.

Hands down the best & most comfortable veterinary hospital I've EVER been to. I was overwhelmed of how great, professional, personable the staff & this office is. I thought I was at a regular hospital for humans!lol! Its clean & in immaculate condition, with AC & small waters for clients while they wait. As soon as I got in the door, literally stepped in, their was some one ready to help and on top of their game! Their service: I finally feel confident in my vet doctors opinion and knowledge of my pet. They really know medically their trade & was able to answer my questions. They are approachable friendly people who I feel have a heart. THE FIRST TIME EVER MY CAT LET ANYONE ASSIST HER! It was life changing! The staff dident have to sedate my cat to treat her here they knew exactly how to handle her, it was amazing. Through my cats whole visit here it was the most relaxing thing I've ever experienced 🙌🏾. Mind you this is an E.R. and my first time here. I was referred from a friend to come here, I'm so thankful🙌🏾. My cat didn't even cry or yowl in fear as she usually does in other vets offices which was intresting I think she knows this is a good place too.
