Wow wow wow what a wonderful place I stopped here for breakfast on my way to work I got two eggs corned beef sausage and toast cooked to perfection do yourself a favor and get this breakfast the very best I had in years

Absolute gem!! We were recommended to come here while staying at the Griswold Inn in Essex. Fabulous little locals joint and the food was fantastic!!

Oh my stars the waitess who is the bartender at haddam Pizza was excellent. Her bubbly personal, her attention to our needs and her sweet disposition were greatly appreciated. Thank you for making our breakfast experience so enjoyable. Jill and Barbara

We stopped here on the way to Newport for sandwiches. The sandwiches were fantastic. They have specialty homemade breads, we got two different slices of those also. They were delicious and the slices were huge. This will now be our stop in our travels!

Hate to have to change my review... but very disappointed!! Ordered an omelet... a staple of their menu... comes with home fries and toast... at least it's supposed to. Needless to say... wait staff is not properly trained or at least that was the excuse I received. Only omelet showed up... minimal follow up by staff... when brought up to manager/ owner, I got the excuse about server being new but no mention of reducing price, discount or compensation for the fully charged, incomplete meal. It seems the manager randomly kitchen staff are also greatly under trained as well. I have been going here pretty regularly for the last few months and have to say... this was the most disappointing meal I have had in this part of Connecticut and it's breakfast... really... not difficult?!?! Needless to say... save yourself the aggravation and find another local restaurant to support!!

Service was lackluster to be kind. Forgot to take our order then had attitude like it was our fault for sitting there waiting for 20 minutes. When we did order the food took over half an hour to get to us. Omelette was good, home fries were cold, sourdough toast was extra burnt and extra money. Pancake was raw. Never had a chance to let anyone know because they never came back over. From where we sat we could see into the kitchen. No one wore gloves, and food was microwaved. No excuses..

Hally Jo's is consistently a good choice for us. Any time we're in the area and want to get some of the best breakfast food around in a very cozy atmosphere this is hands down the single best place to go. They have changing specials on the whiteboard behind the cash register that are my personal go to. But you can also customize your breakfast desires with anything you want! Definitely worth checking out! Highly recommend home fries as well, no order has ever let me down.

Very Hearty Breakfast. The corned beef hash was chock full of quality meat. The OE eggs were cooked perfectly. The home fries were very good as was the rye toast. The waitress was slammed but managed to stay out in front of it. Very friendly staff and to watch the kitchen bang out meal after meal was fascinating. The ambiance is a perfect fit for Deep River feel. Plenty of street parking.
