1st things first....get the homemade poptart!! I've walked past this place 500 times in 15 years and never went in....shame on me.....Vermont syrup, Vermont Chedder... OMG...I've been a fool..... I want to try 4 other things on the menu....Can't wait till I go again!

Went here the other day. The Homemade pop tart was delicious. However, the rest of the fare & service was something to be desired. I ordered 'A Long Sunrise', which is a $15 Avacado toast with a side of fruit. The side of fruit consisted of 9 blueberries, a single sour strawberry, and 4 slices of thin green apple - more like a garnish really. So stingy. I did like my $11 cocktail though, just not the molted brown lime slice that came with it. My bf ordered the Brisket Bowl. I don't recall the exact words, but he mentioned something about the flavor being akin to an off-tasting pot roast. Stubbornly, he tried to eat most of it as it was $23. He also ordered a Blueberry Banana cocktail but it ended up being just a $12 smoothie. Later that day, my BF had excruciating food poisoning & was incapacitated for 24 hours. We don't know for sure if it was the food from the Penguin, but it was his main meal of the day & he only ate packaged chips + soda after. Our waitress was nice enough but we had some inconveniences. The few times we wanted to ask for something, we had difficulty locating her as she was often in the back or behind the bar wall. A couple behind us also had to wait around for the waitress to appear in order to request cups of water and refills. There were only a few tables seated, with other waiters present. In fact, there was not much to do and even the man behind the bar was mostly just standing there since not a lot of people were drinking. In any case, when we tried to get our bill, we didn't know where our waitress was again. We waited long enough for us to both use the bathroom, stack the plates, and clear the table. We never ended up getting our own cups of water but we did spend $70+! The Penguin is just one of those overpriced generic diners with zero ingratiating charm. Not horrible, but not great. Would not recommend The Penguin to people I like. _________EDIT_________UPDATE__________ The BF is still sick despite the food poisoning happening a few days ago. He's been diagnosed with Salmonella. We believe it was due to the undercooked eggs on his Brisket Bowl.

Went for breakfast got scambled eggs, sausage patties and home fries....everything was covered with oregano.....why???? The eggs were cut into little ribbons, very hard to pickup with your for and barely edible...maybe the servers should tell the customers that literally everything is covered in oregano, otherwise people won't be disappointed with a lackluster breakfast. Save your money, go to Bethany Diner and get a better meal!

The only good thing about this experience at this boardwalk establishment was out server Giuliana. The wait was about 45 to an hour which is normal in that area, during the season..but we never received a text. When we went to check on an ETA, the hostess stated that a notification was sent. I showed her there was none then asked to see a manager. We sat down to a meal that was uneventful, the breakfast potatoes almost burnt. To top ot off, the manager never arrived- not even an apology given.

I have gone back to this place place every single time I have gone here, and it never fails to be perfect. I got an tomatoed cheddar omelet, which I requested but it was not on the menu, when it came, it was. so. good. especially the tomatoes. The theme of penguins was carried out so nicely, and they even had cute penguin shirts, I am definitely coming next when I go on vacation.

This is a fantastic restaurant. Came here for breakfast. The food was incredible. The blueberry pancakes were perfect in every way. I got the Andy’s Breakfast wrap and it was very good. I only wish it had an additional protein in it since the entire wrap is mainly egg. Beyond that it was great. We also got the Robins Wrap and the person eating it was very happy with it. Definitely coming back to the penguin.

It was okay 👍 our waitress was very nice. The place had a very long wait. The food was pretty good as far as breakfast goes. It was very overpriced like everything in that area. If your hungover, got some cash, and can wait for some good breakfast grub I wouldn't say no lol.

Good service, didn't wait long for our food. Food was really good, only complaint is they give you the smallest thing of butter I've ever seen in a restaurant before. We had to ask the waitress for more butter, the amount they gave was enough to smear on one piece of toast.

PERFECT BREAKFAST. Best in Delaware. Although the staff isn’t at 100%, they are wonderful. Julia was our server and she was amazing. Thank you to the team at The Penguin for making our Memorial Day weekend breakfast one to remember. ❤️🇺🇸

Definitely worthy of a trip. Fast and friendly service. Good food, if a little overpriced. But, then again, that's probably what we get for eating breakfast in a resort town. The brisket bowl was definitely tasty!
