About:
Kelly Chambers, O.D. received her BS in visual sciences and Doctor of Optometry from Salus University. She received her undergraduate degree in biological sciences from the University of Delaware. She then went on to do a year of small RNA research. Dr. Chambers did externship rotations at the Baltimore VA Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Katzen Eye Group, all in Maryland, where she focused on treating glaucoma and ocular disease. She specialized in low vision at Salus University. Dr. Chambers enjoys spending time with her family and watching the Phillies. She and her husband just welcomed their first child in August. They are the proud new parents of a baby boy.

The optometrists here are great, this review is soley based on the optical department where you order glasses and lenses. I had a great experience with my eye exam from Dr Mertzlufft, he is very thorough and explains everything in great detail. My problem with the visit was dealing with the rude optician that was working this past Saturday (blonde woman I believe her name is Jill). I was planning on buying high end glasses and lenses during my visit (which would have totalled almost $1k before insurance) but decided to walk out and buy them elsewhere due to the poor customer experience I received from the optician. She was extremely rude and unhelpful and had an attitude with me the entire time I was dealing with her, she should not be dealing with the public. She seems like she hates her job and doesnt like to help out customers. I told her I needed specific requests made to my lenses and she did not want to call the lab to verify if it could be done, instead she just shut me down and told me she cant promise anything. I decided to walk out because I did not trust her to order my lenses correctly, she also did not seem knowledgable on how lenses were made. I have been ordering glasses for over 20 years with special lab requests and have never had issues from any other optician, this was the worst experience I have ever had. I would reccomend going here for your eye exam because the eye doctors are good but then taking your prescription elsewhere due to the rude and incompetent optician that works here.

All the associates I met were friendly, attentive, and helpful. They answered my questions and guides me through each process. They even helped me select my new glasses and contacts that would help me with work and other activities. The financing and insurance was explained in an easy to understand manner. Finding a good doctor that cares is hard. My previous eye doctor retired so I’ve been looking for a new doctor for a few years. I’m lucky to have found this place and I’ll be back!

Was referred here and I'm glad I went. The most thorough eye exam I have ever gotten. The doctor actually takes the time to explain things in detail and doesn't make you feel like you are taking up too much of his time. Thanks for a great experience!

Top notch. I am a patient who had a problem while away from home. Staff worked me in first day home. Identified problem and arranged a quick appointment with a retina specialist. Clear explanation of findings and options for both my wife and I. Highly recommend Family Eye Care at Westshore.

So hey I moved to Westchase a few months ago had to find a new eye doctor in the area and came across family eyecare at Westchase which is literally down the street for me so that was super convenient! Definitely from the moment I walked in the door I was greeted by four or five of the nicest staff members and they took care of me very quickly I didn’t wait more than two minutes to be called into the appointment where Davina did my preliminary eye exam and I enjoyed her company while we laughed at the fact that I could not talk and was a hot mess lol and In came Dr. Chambers who was super nice I love how they listen to all of my concerns and I finally felt very comfortable about expressing how I couldn’t see in certain areas and how I could see better because I wanted to make sure I was getting the correct prescription… I was explained the difference between a regular prescription and the progressive which was recommended and after my very thorough and efficient and quick exam I went out and met with Janelle who was kind and gracious enough to break down my medical benefits and how much everything would be which I know sometimes can be annoying I guess is the word to use for some people, but the staff makes you feel like it’s no big deal you know they’re doing their job they want to help you and there was no pressure for me to buy glasses or get a new lens that day because I do have some things to think about and money but all in all amazing friendly down-to-earth staff and the last wonderful lady I dealt with was Dona-Vy! What a sweetheart! Ladies you are all amazing - keep shining! Also extremely clean clean facility very well organized beautiful selection of glasses!

This was my first eye exam and I’m so happy I chose Family Eye Care! The staff was super friendly and very informative. I especially appreciate the woman that aided in my frame selection. I have to get her name! I was lost and embarrassed to find the right frames for my needs as well as appearance. She gracefully held my hand and pointed out all the real world considerations I should think about and provided a woman’s sensibility when it came to appearance. I’m so grateful.

My wife and I have been coming to Family Eye Care of Westchase for many years. WE have always been treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism, by Doctor Mertzlufft and Doctor Chambers. Any and all issues with our eyes are explained in detail. Their staff is equally courteous and professional. We also get our prescription eyeglasses from them as well. We highly recommend them to anyone needing a qualified professional and friendly optometrist
