Beautiful trail, but beware of the parking lot. We pulled up to 2 men in a trail blazer who were clearly not interested in the trails. They hung out in their car for 45 mins after we got there and I think they finally left because we wouldn't. They even moved closer to the exit, but still stayed. We're grateful for whoever commented about their converter getting stolen. Possibly saved ours. Oh and we called the sheriff's office, but nobody responded to our call. Not important enough, I guess.

The trail itself is lovely, though could use some minor maintenance in places due to erosion. The parking lot (and road to enter the parking lot) are in desperate need of some grading. Recommend high clearance vehicle to get to the parking lot. There is a privy and some changing/privacy as well as a nice covered picnic table. This place could be so lovely. Just needs some care.

Don't park here. Our catalytic converter was stolen while we went for a ride.

Good hiking if you like mountains

Trail location is handy, but the trail itself isn’t great. It was routed in a manner that is too steep resulting in water/erosion problems.

We had so much fun in this area, my daughter and her boyfriend walked a little bit of the trail.

This trail is closest to my house. It is part of the connector trail and a good place for a short hike. It isn't traveled as much since there is a larger connecting trail farther up the mountain.

Great trail. Watch out for bikes and horse manure. Access is prohibited during wet weather. This is to protect the trail from unnecessary wear and tear. The section called Slickenside is full of coal mining history. Tailings can still be seen and the trail actually uses some of them. I highly recommend a visit.
