The cashier was very rude, as I was having difficulty processing my card due to a banking malfunction. He made me very aware that I was not only a bother but a nuisance as I tried to figure out my situation on the phone with my bank. These were circumstances outside of my control which is why I was calling my bank to figure out what was going on. I stepped to the side after getting things squared away and continued my suspended purchase at the customer service desk, who then pulled down her mask to cough. I usually have great experiences at this location. This however it was terrible.

I used to love this store. Went there recently to buy shrimp. I wanted shrimp from the counter and the lady very rudely kept saying to just grab the frozen packs it was the same thing even though the prices are different. Seems like it was an inconvenience for her to actually pack the shrimps I asked for. She acted like I was asking for too much from her. Just surprised at her demeanor

Stack & Van Til is my favorite place to grocery shop and I don’t like grocery shopping! It’s clean and well stocked with the items that I often use. The atmosphere is friendly.

I’ve been a customer for the past few years and I have never experienced this type of mess. I always buy this brand of tortillas but never have I ever had mold on them. Stracks you need to reevaluate your products or train your stockers due to them not checking into expiration dates, which was Aug 13, 2022 on the package, that should of been removed from the shelf. They were molded on the shelf. The cashier was rude that day I bought these. I just bought these on Saturday which was the 13th and opened the package on Tuesday. Should be very fresh still. I don’t even live in the Scherereville area any more but went out my way to come to one of my favorite Stracks. Never again!

I've shopped there for years. At first the customer service was great. I've watched the customer service decline, and some of the workers have been rude. Last time, it made me uncomfortable, like I was inconveniencing the employee. Most of my reason for liking this store was the customer service. Not anymore. If I wanted to shop without any assistance, I can have food delivered for $10 per month. Long wait times at the deli for no reason, like the other review said.

My fiancée and I went to this location yesterday evening and let me start with I know everywhere is understaffed but my fiancée had to bag our groceries 300 dollars worth a littler mad but we get it. Until I realize there is an employee just saying by the carts I’m guess he was to greet everyone and he didn’t do that so I call to speak to a manger and very rudely he says we are short staffed no apology nothing so I ask if there is anyone else there manger wise he says there is him and a female manager and the store manger will be in tomorrow. I asked why could he help bag he laughted and said I’m at the service center. I

Usually topnotch. Customer service in the bakery area was dismal. Not one other customer waiting for service. Yet 2 female employees engorged me repeatedly while working behind the counter. I work retail myself and have never complained anywhere ever because I understand. I actually had to interrupt this lady so she would acknowledge me.

It pains me to see the best store in Lake County going downhill fast. From self check out that doesn't take cash, now you want us to do your job and won't take cash. Gourmet deli and hot food hardly ever has employees. New staff is doing great but some of the old timers need to retire if they are not going to be nice. You can do better.

Very clean and well organized. I went in for three things and ended up dropping $175 because of variety of products I found. Cheese department carries one of the top bleu cheese Point Reyes. Sometimes Mariano's has it, but it is very hard to find and well worth the extra money. The real live experienced butcher answered a couple of questions and then directed me on the search for bacon. A slab caught my eye, as another gentleman beamed when he found it on sale for $3 off. I will give it a try. One item I seek, a squeezable tube of anchovies, was AWOL. The employees are well trained and offer help at every turn. One really sour note at the special service desk. After I checked out I realized how well I had been drawn in. Expecting to find 3 items only I spent a bundle of time and money. I approached the desk, explained that I thought it was a good idea to enroll in the rewards program. Maybe it was the fact that the woman never made eye contact, that she didn't listen when I told her that I wanted to start the process, that she slowly chewed her gum or a combination of all, but I left when she said "Well you have to download to the app (as if I was an idiot)" when I had told her I had just decided to enroll. I never have downloaded CVS, Mariano's, Walgreens and many other apps so this was not exactly intuitive. Why clog up my phone? Maybe I will return. Glad I did venture in anyway.

January 18, 2022 many customers nor wearing masks felt very uncomfortable. Not staying 6 feet away. No hand wipes at entrance.... Oct. 2020 I couldn't resist this pumpkin planter for a friends birthday. Reminds me of Wilson in the movie Castaway🧙♀️ In this time of Covid-19, I go at 6AM and get what I need for the week. I pay more for most everything, but I don't want to go to 5 different stores. Just not worth it. They even have a isle with toothpaste, and over the counter meds..The cashiers and baggers are great. People working in produce are very helpful. Hamburger cake from Stack And Van Til in Schererville, Indiana. Yellow cake for the bun and chocolate cake for the hamburger. Yellow, red, green frosting for the condiments. Price $7.99. Great for summer parties. Lovely floral section and last minute gifts. Produce is very good and attractively displayed. Their Carmel corn is so good. Now March of 2021. Got our covid-19 vaccine. Can't wait to get out and see family and shop for groceries during the day instead of 6am
