This Stater Brothers was an eyesore when it opened close to 10 years ago. But in recent years it’s one few well rounded grocery store in an area depleted area unless you shop Latino markets or big box budget stores which lose the small neighborhood feel. That said, it’s always crowded, chaotic and since the pandemic, stock of main staple foods are always empty. I know the excuse, but I always find those items having to shop at several other markets & never one stop shopping anymore. Even Walmart has more on good days than any Stater Brothers (stand corrected, been to San Diego locations & there are less or hardly any empty shelves).
Lastly, (some not all) cashiers are rude & try to push you out instead of being logically patient as in yesterday when a couple of customers ahead of me took my change & flew out - they had a ton of groceries & sadly GR recipients who wanted more like my change. Had the cashier waited till the bagger was done with their groceries, she could have rang me up & I would have got my change. I have nothing against people getting government assistance, I have a problem with those manipulating to gain more from those who do pay for it - for those who really need it & those unsavory people ruin it for those humble beings. It was only change, but even those greedy women could have been honest & left it alone, I’d rather give it to a kid trying to sell (working for it) or a homeless person than these racketeers. Shame. ~Jay
