Went to the ED and it's upsetting that I am just another person being added to the list of others who have not had a pleasant experience here, and with the ED nurses in particular. To start off, I have had friends mention that the nurses here were not too considerate of the rest that patients need in order to get better and be discharged. I am pretty sure no one intends to just hang out and feel worse when they can just rest, feel better, and go home. After going to the ED with my other half and spending hours being talked to, treated, and figuring out what else could be wrong, my other half just wanted to rest. The nurses, on the other hand, seem to make that difficult because of their seemingly innate ability to talk amongst themselves and laugh aloud. I've heard some nurses making jokes to other employees when really they were just plain rude remarks, then they're making plans on going out or something but really... is there not the station they can do that instead of (what feels like) right by my room?! From a patient point of view, it just seemed both unprofessional and disrespectful. Despite wanting to say something so that my other half and the other patient in the room could rest properly, I felt that making a scene would be a worse idea... Especially since this same situation has happened time and time before without any change. This is my shot in the dark in hoping that more can be done to better train and educate these nurses for patients that simply want rest and go home. ~c
