Best transmission shop in Elkhart, Indiana (IN) 2024

I'm from out of town, and my wife and I were traveling through when the charging system on our Mercury Grand Marquis failed. A friend in the area suggested Brian at Auto Village, and boy am I glad he did! Due to my circumstance (we were on the way to Michigan to celebrate our wedding anniversary), Brian worked me into the shop rotation right away and helped me get back on the road. An extremely personable business owner! And I think he did some things for me in the situation that he didn't really have to do. I got a TON of value for the money I spent there. Troy was the technician who did the work on our car. As a small engine mechanic myself, I like to think I know good work when I see it. Troy did a great job troubleshooting the source of the charging system issue (it was an intermittent problem, so it took him some time to pinpoint). He was able to fix the wiring so that the charging system would work consistently, and as he showed and explained to me the details of what he did, I could tell he did a nice, neat job - certainly not the kind of job that you'd expect a shade tree mechanic to do. Glad to have a professional mechanic who knows his stuff working on our car! I waited several days to write this review, because I wanted to make sure the repair was good. Now I'm confident that it is. After breaking down several hours from home, it's really nice to regain peace of mind driving the car! Thanks!
