Extremely helpful and customer friendly. While traveling to NY on I80 a metal shield under the engine blew partially off and hanging, it became mangled by scraping the road for many miles until I got to Carter's. Staff members immediately came out. Ely didn't even wait for a lift. He got completely under the car and with manual strength removed all the hanging metal. It took a matter of minutes. Neither he nor Grace would accept any money for their service. I returned safely to NY thanks to Grace and Ely and Carter Tires & Automotive. Stellar place! I cannot say enough about Dave Anderson, he is so easy to work with. We have lived in Elkhart since 1993 and have bought almost every personal and company vehicle from him. I'm not a travel all over the state looking for the car I want, kind of girl. I call Dave, tell him what I'm looking for, color, options and he finds it for me or in this case ordered it for me. I trust him and know that he has my best interest at heart. He isn't one to bully you into something you are not sure on, he doesn't assume that because you came to see him you will buy from him. I have never felt like a number when dealing with Dave. I even called him once from a Jeep rental car because I couldn't find the gas button and he gladly helped me out with its location. He explains everything in detail and is always willing to answer question. This was the first time I traded in a vehicle with Lochmandy Auto Group, let me tell you they appraised my 2017 vehicle at more than fair value. I'm from out of town, and my wife and I were traveling through when the charging system on our Mercury Grand Marquis failed. A friend in the area suggested Brian at Auto Village, and boy am I glad he did! Due to my circumstance (we were on the way to Michigan to celebrate our wedding anniversary), Brian worked me into the shop rotation right away and helped me get back on the road. An extremely personable business owner! And I think he did some things for me in the situation that he didn't really have to do. I got a TON of value for the money I spent there. Troy was the technician who did the work on our car. As a small engine mechanic myself, I like to think I know good work when I see it. Troy did a great job troubleshooting the source of the charging system issue (it was an intermittent problem, so it took him some time to pinpoint). He was able to fix the wiring so that the charging system would work consistently, and as he showed and explained to me the details of what he did, I could tell he did a nice, neat job - certainly not the kind of job that you'd expect a shade tree mechanic to do. Glad to have a professional mechanic who knows his stuff working on our car! I waited several days to write this review, because I wanted to make sure the repair was good. Now I'm confident that it is. After breaking down several hours from home, it's really nice to regain peace of mind driving the car! Thanks!
