5 Best discount store in South Bend, Indiana (IN) 2024

I used to love shopping at this Big Lots, but since they changed the lay out it's been a nightmare and I avoid it. As an older person with mobility issues the store is difficult to navigate. Aisles are often blocked or too narrow for the shopping cart. The items most frequently purchased (groceries, cleaning supplies) are located all the way at the back of the store. I understand, as a marketing plan, they want people to have to walk past the high dollar items like sofas and mattresses. These are not items that people buy weekly. Groceries are. Items are often lacking price tags or labeling. There used to be a wonderful selection of unique foods from around the world. Now it's the same stuff you find at any local grocery and the prices aren't much of a savings. Finding the check out is another issue. It is poorly marked and hard to find the tiny opening that runs you through a maze of more merchandise before you finally find the check out counters. I doubt I'll be back very soon to this Big Lots. It was great while it lasted, but this latest change has me shopping elsewhere. ~Victoria

Store manager talking to a customer at the register and ringing her return super slowly and talking about children and other stuff and ignoring 7-others in line. When I mentioned it her fast response was okay, now I am not ringing you up. Bad behavior, bad communications. Maybe she was having a bad day. That happens to all of us. But I waited after she rang another customer up and asked her again to ring me up. She called the police instead. That's tragic. Glad I am not a Dollar General customer. Only been there 2-times in 20-years and today was one of them. Just hope she has a good day tomorrow. I'll pray she does. She is probably overworked and overstressed. But, today the service was a one-star. ~Paul

I am so upset this place was closed at 715 and it's suppose to close till ten no notes nothing so then I go to the one down the street and they are close and it's 722 and the don't close till 8 and there is at least 3workers in that one. I get it people are down workers but you can atleast leaves notes or change the time on Google search this is the only place I get my minutes for my phone and now they don't want to be open ughhhhh so frustrating ~Joseph
