Best auto repair shop in Kingston, New York (NY) 2024

Used their service before and it was okay and not expensive. Discovered today they no longer make service appoints but are first come first serve. If I'm leaving work early or heading there after I want to know when my car will be serviced. I don't want to get over there and hope I don't have to sit for hours or come back another day. Brought my daughter’s car in to have snow tires and an inspection at the end of 2021. They did the tires but told me the car would not pass inspection due to brake issues. I was told the rear brakes were metal on metal, rotors were gouged and shot, calipers were frozen and front brake pads and rotors were also shot and would need to be replaced. They rattled off some excessive pricing and I told them to throw the tires on the car and I would take care of the brakes. I took the car home and there was nothing wrong with the front or rear brakes accept some rust on the rotors. Since I had already purchased the parts I changed everything out, but this appeared to be a total money grab scam. I have brought numerous vehicles here for years and never had any issues or complaints about this location but all it takes is one time like this and I will never go back. I really expected better from this place. I have changed more brakes on vehicles than I can remember, I don’t make false claims, and kept all the old parts. My alternator died during a long drive and I ended up in Kingston. Brian was kind enough to take me in right after opening on a Sunday. He confirmed the issue quickly, and gave me an accurate price and time estimate for the work to be done. Everything was all good and I made it back home fine with the help of the team at the Monro in Kingston. ~Michael
