10 Best grocery store in Durham, North Carolina (NC) 2024

I wish that I could give this place a zero because this is the worse corner store I have ever been to. The short man in the morning is always very rude. The owner, who works the evening shift, is also very rude. He will overcharge your card and cuss and be loud with you. He is also quick to kick people out of the store if you tell him he made a mistake or that he tried to overcharge you. He is uncooperative with the police, even if they weren't called on him. Do not waste your time here please I don't want anyone to ever experience what I experienced. ~Balla1993

I shop here often, and tonight was my first bad experience. This location closes at 8pm, but we were turned away at 7:50pm. We weren’t trying to grocery shop. I just sent my boyfriend in for 1 thing. ~Kristan

We've been very frequent customers of this family fare for years. But it's been very disappointing that when the city mask mandates are in effect, the workers behind the counter often choose not to be masked. ~kennedyzentz

I love this store! The employees are wonderful. Might be a little long but they deserve it. Before the pandemic I had to wear masks for medical reasons and they never made mi feel uncomfortable. I am so thankful. To this day they have always been kind and since I can’t bend over they never make mi feel like I am asking to much. Helping mi to the car and loading groceries for mi is sweet. If you want a store that is clean, products aren’t hidden but well front faced, proper polite employees and kind managers (Ms Karen) and more go here! Like come on. Close to the house and always has great fresh fruit. Really good meat selection of things I can't find everywhere. ~Deana

The store was only able to accept cash & EBT. I asked why wasn’t a sign posted at the door instead of inconveniencing customers, waisting time to shop only to be told their method of payment isn’t accepted at the current time. I was told a sign cost a lot of money to post😒Common sense will tell you to post a temporary sign at the door, handwritten that is, but I guess there isn’t much common sense here🤷🏽‍♀️ ~Rozay

Have all kinds of cigarettes. Very clean. They don't allow people to just hang around there store ever... Great lighter leashes! Good prices! ~Blessed

Shopping here was one of the best experiences I have had in Durham, bar none. The owners son, Joel, was covering the store, he was genuine, kind and super helpful! Can't wait to go back, definitely adding the Spice Bazaar to my shopping routine. ~Brittany

Love this Dollar Tree! Now I know your thinking a dollar store is a dollar store, nope! Some have a weak birthday/party section, no freezer section with dollar yums, plenty of house hold items to boot. This store is craziness, two isles of party decor (pictures are bubbles, ribbon, napkins & clear plates all for #DollarTree) two freezers, three isles of kitchen, office and home decor. More selection of home & laundry cleaners, just an outright bigger, better store. I didn't discover it until the last month when I'm running around with my head cut off, preparing for kid's birthday and then Christmas!! Tons of wrapping & tissue paper, bags, tape, stocking stuffers...etc. Plus staff is friendly and speedy, even in this busy season. Free parking and wheel chair accessible ~Heather
