Best tax preparation service in Providence, Rhode Island (RI) 2024

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I paid $345 for their “Professional Tax Service” to have my taxes done by Gail Mattia at this location. She was inattentive to detail, and neglected my account resulting in my initial return getting in a day late. Long story short, fast forward 3 months and I get a notice from the IRS stating my taxes were never filed!!!! She never actually filed my taxes after confirming the return with me, so now I am out the $345 I paid HR block AND over $400 in fees and penalties from the IRS. It took me weeks to get in touch with anyone who had the authority to help, and The manager had the audacity to tell me the service I paid for was for HR Block to “prepare my return” and that “actually e-filing my taxes was a complimentary service.” Take your money elsewhere, find a local tax professional who will actually care about your time and money. HR Block is just a giant company who pumps out as many returns as possible and does not care about their customers. Side note: my wife also used HR Block, and we got a second opinion on her return, and the tax professional found a discrepancy of over $2000 (yes two thousand dollars) in her favor. This place is an absolute SCAM! ~Michael
