Sherm Arnold's is an excellent place to do business, they have a really great wide selection of items, they will help you with all your decisions, they have great personnel, they try to get new orders in as soon as possible (if not stocked), and they have great deals in their warehouse. They do provide installation services if needed and I know that they are preferred over big box stores by local contractors. I've bought from them on multiple projects over the years and have always been happy with the products & service.

....WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP>>>>>>To be fair the service in Auburn/Lewiston store was nice very helpful and they have a very wide selection to choose from...however, sadly thats where compliments end!! We had a small simple job of tiling the ceiling of our small shower. We were PROMISED once the tile came in to have the work completed by their usual contractor in less than a week... Fast forward four weeks and several phone calls to the shop and many excuses later....one of their contractors sent up a very inexperienced person up to do the job. The worker struggled with the job here to find out this was his 1st job on his own. For a job that should have taken only a day took three !! To top it off he was unable to put the shower light cover back into the ceiling opening! ....again I warn all of you don't go through what we did...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP!

Kasey at Sherm Arnold's was excellent. She went out of her way to assist us. We have never had that kind of help in the past while shopping for laminated flooring. Kasey went so far as to come to our house to examine our rooms so she could give us the best color laminated flooring. Kasey is very devoted, kind, pleasant and offers excellent customer service.

This is Pat the husband who hijacked my wife’s account...LOL. Sherm Arnold’s has quality items that far exceed the big box stores. They will work with the smallest of customers who like DYI projects. I did a high end showers and flooring job myself in many stages due to my schedule. The sales lady who has many years of flooring experience had no problem answering even my dumbest questions. Kassey is an asset to their business. I did the math $7600 for my quoted job elsewhere, $4000 was labor and now I am proud every time I enter the master bathroom that I did myself. Thank you to all the team at Sherm Arnold’s.

My wife and I recently purchased a home in Brunswick that needed extensive renovations, including updating the flooring. We wanted to go with quality wood and tile flooring, so we contacted a local business, Sherm Arnold's, which, we heard, had an array of quality products and could arrange skilled installation. We were leaving a circa 1850 home in Auburn, so purchasing flooring was new to us, and we sought good guidance from Sherm Arnold's. Sadly, that guidance was not provided, and the quality of the installation in our new home was flawed as the result of poor workmanship by the installer recommended by Sherm Arnold's. In its Face Book site, Sherm Arnold's states that “We know what our customers care about and that's Quality, Service and Price and we guarantee you'll find it ALL here for LESS!’ This is not accurate. We had poor service. The owner of Sherm Arnold's, Denis Lebel, and an employee of Denis helped us choose the wood and tile products and they recommended the installer as someone who could do a masterful job that we will be pleased with. Denis then departed for Florida and no one from Sherm Arnold's provided on-site supervision of the installer. The installer proved to be a pleasant person who was not suited to the task assigned to him by Sherm Arnold's. Most disturbing was Sherm Arnold's unwillingness to stand behind its recommendation. When the installation was demonstrably defective, the best Denis would do was to insist that the same unsound installer be invited back into our home to try to correct the defects. In fact the installer was able to mitigate some of the defects, but defects they remain, and we have had to become resigned to the imperfections that still exist and that cannot easily be corrected. Denis insisted that, since we paid the installer directly, we were the “contractors” and his company has no duty to make things right. The first day we met the installer, he asked if we wanted to pay him directly or pay Sherm Arnold's for his services. This conversation made me uncomfortable for I had no desire to cut out Sherm Arnold's. When I related this conversation to Sherm Arnold's employee, she told me that it made no difference to Sherm Arnold's if we paid the installer directly. I told her that we did not know the installer, but we knew of Sherm Arnold's and we wished to be able to look to Sherm Arnold's to stand behind the product and the installation. She assured me that Sherm Arnold's would. Now Denis is grasping at any excuse to avoid responsibility, including either fabricating facts or believing untrue assertions from the installer rather than coming to the assistance of a dissatisfied customer of his business. One would reasonably expect that Sherm Arnold's would anticipate issues that a customer may not expect. For instance, the installer’s estimate did not include removal of the existing flooring nor did it include the cost of replacing baseboards damaged by the flooring installation. These became “extras” as the job progressed. Sherm Arnold's should have alerted us to these charges in advance. We have since spoken to other flooring suppliers and had the installation at our home evaluated. There is consensus that the installation remains defective. We told Sherm Arnold's that smooth transitions between wood and tile are important to us. We got unsightly transitions that resulted from the two surfaces inexplicably being at different levels. This should never have been. Other flooring companies told us that installers recommended by them are supervised. No one from Sherm Arnold's came to our home until the installer was finished and we insisted that they come to see how unskillful the installation was. When a friend of ours saw the flooring, he commented that he had used Lowes and an installer recommended by it, all without a problem. I hesitate to recommend a national concern over a local business, but I certainly cannot recommend Sherm Arnold's.
