About:

Mala Kung Fu Logo

Malatang is the perfect hot pot option if you want the freedom to pick your own broth and ingredients like hot pot without having to eat an entire pot yourself. It is individualized hot pot and is perfect for cold weather. Just like a do-it-yourself salad, you can customize everything about malatang down to the seasonings, spiciness level and ingredients. The ingredients you pick are cooked in a large vat of boiling broth in separate baskets. Each ingredient is cooked a different amount of time to be perfect. They are all combined into a bowl with broth and whatever toppings you’d like. Every ingredient has its own price ranging from $12.99 (usually) and the price of the dish is up to how much you want in it.

Came here for the first time tonight. Walked in to be greater by the owner and his employees. Owner showed me how to start and told me the limit I should have for it to be a healthy amount. Grabbed a bowl and some tongs to start my decision on what I wanted from the assortment of vegetables, fish balls, crab and king crab cuts. Next I grab a bit of ramen and placed the bowl down to be weighed in and then was asked what type of meat and spice level I wanted(medium just to try). Was told would be about 15 to 20 minutes but ended up waiting about 5 to 7 minutes instead which was fine by me. Let me tell you about this broth. Absolutely delicious. The taste is perfect and made me want a bowl just to enjoy broth by itself. The chicken is pulled and slurping it up with the broth helps it taste so much better. I highly suggest putting a little bit of spice to enjoy the broth even more. I chose bok choy, soft tofu, spinach, bean sprouts, lotus, potato, and noodles. Definitely will return to try all the vegetables, meat and spice varieties.

You pick up a bowl and add whatever you want for your soup and then at the register tell them the protein you want and the spice level. There was a bit of a wait because it was busy but so worth it. The taste was amazing and I'm definitely going back!

Absolutely delicious. You can choose the veggies you want to put in your soup, then weigh it. Then at the register you choose the meat/soup base you want. I'll definitely come back. So fresh and healthy!

Love love this restaurant. So authentic and delicious that we eat here about once a week. The soup is so so good. You grab a bowl, add in what you want and they cook it for you either as a soup or dry. You can also customize spice level. And it’s so reasonably priced. Plus the owner Arik is just the sweetest.

tldr: Amazing authentic flavor (better than your typical ma la tang place in China) and suuuuper nice owner/workers! 麻辣烫。If you've never had it before, it's a unique pre-made individual/small sharing hotpot where you select what exactly goes into it. Super popular in China and Korea. I was incredibly and pleasantly surprised to find a real malatang offering in MA that is actually REALLY really good. Of course it's more expensive than in Asia but the broth was probably the best I've had of all the 麻辣烫 places I've been to. Owner is super nice and gave us some freebies. Also owner is trilingual (English, Korean, Mandarin Chinese) which is super impressive. Added onto my must have list for Asian food in Boston (not a very long list... get your act together MA).

A bit pricey. Especially the lamb. Very clean and nice setup inside which is why I’m sticking to the 4 star review. Friendly man at the register, and they bring the dish to your table. Closer to fast food because we really didn’t have to wait to long for the food, which was great because we were HUNGRY. But if it’s a romantic date type and you’re going fancy, I wouldn’t pick this place. My wife (Chinese) also reallyyyy enjoyed it. Overall I liked this place. The setup, the large tv on the wall, the cleanliness, the food. I guess it’s an authentic Asian style restaurant. So if you’re trying to eat at a legit nice, mainly casual (not super fancy restaurant), authentic Asian restaurant, this is the place.

The best authentic Modern Chinese Mala Tang in BOSTON area! It is the Spicy & Numb Soup with all kinds of clean ingredients. Getting addicted to it recently, and I've been ordered it for over 6 times so far. Really like it!!! Remember try the BBQ Lamb too!! Very authentic My favorite!!

Great place for fresh ingredients in your soup. Unique style where you get to pick what you want to have in your soup. The broth is amazing. I would consider this a nice comfort food and a great option when you need soup to help treat the common cold. Take a look at my soup photo... 🤤
