This is the benefit of living in a small town. A small nursing home attached to a hospital. All through COVID they went above and beyond to keep our loved ones safe. There is a solid core staff that are local and have been there for years, they define dedicated. Is it perfect? No place is, but they listen and respond. They care. They have had staffing challenges but do their best and they truly care, The new Administrator seems very engaged. We are grateful always.

My brother has been at Apple Valley for several years now. I have mostly been pleased with communication with staff, staff attention, his care and comfort and hs meals. However, have had issues with facility taking care of his laundry and the sloppiness of hanging his clothes in HIS closet. Several timesI have found other people’s clothing in his closet!!!! NOT ACCEPTABLE. In addition, I think Housekeeping could do a better job cleaning resident rooms and table and window surfaces. So in conclusion, care is excellent, but ancillary services could be better.

My experience has been excellent so far, and I don’t have any reason to think it’s gonna change. The staff is above excellent, the food is always good, and the service is exemplary. This is my first experience with a rehabilitation program , and I couldn’t be more pleased.

The Team at Apple Valley Center is great to work with. Especially Julie! She is always so helpful and reliable when reaching out for support. The genesis teams are great to work with when it comes to supporting local families, they are caring and kind. Thanks for all you do!

My loved one has been there 3 times and, while we have found the staff caring, they are greatly under staffed. It sometimes takes a long time to get help or an answer due to short staffing. While the cleaning staff seems to do a good job, there are cobwebs along the ceiling and curtains are torn and dirty. The furniture is old, looks like something purchased from a yard sale. The building needs upgrading and they need to hire more staff.

Although staffing is always an issue ( I have worked in LTC) I feel that your staff always goes above and beyond with the little extras that make a positive difference. On a recent visit to my sister I was struggling trying to get a mini refrigerator out of my car. I could not lift it. Erica was on her lunch break, saw my dilemma, and came to assist. What was impossible for my 80 year old body was very doable for Erica. She carried the refrigerator to my sister’s room and then resumed her lunch break. She didn’t even work on my sister’s floor. I think she works on the rehab unit. This is an extreme example but there have been many occasions when staff will open a door, greet me or my sister, or offer to carry something to the unit. Your staff is exceptional.

My Brother has been in this facility for 5 years. The staff is very caring. Of course there isn’t any place that will be perfect but I feel Apple Valley is a great place for my loved one. I have seen far worse.

Honestly, not impressed at all with Apply Valley. My mom was here for a little over a week because she needed PT rehab and I was told that they had gotten all the paperwork from the hospital, Nashoba Valley right next door, but I guess they didn’t get the health care proxy form… I had to make sure they got it myself. On the second and third day I inquired about talking to the doctor since I’ve been in charge of my mom's care for the last 7 months and my mom just can’t convey the information needed due to her issues. They didn’t seem interested in anything I had to say, or anything from her PCP, they only seemed to want info from the hospital that she came from, which it was her first time ever being there so they aren’t going to have much information about her chronic issues from the last 7 months which is the cause of her current issues. I was told twice (possibly by the same nurse though) “don’t get offended if the doctor doesn’t call you, she really only likes to talk to the patient and not the family”. Hearing that twice just seemed like a big red flag to me, especially considering that under the doctor’s info on the website it says “she believes in providing comprehensive health care services and educating our patients and families”. Once the doctor called me on the fourth day she determined that the health care proxy should be invoked, which we probably could have realized this 3-4 days prior if anyone had given me a call like I asked. I even remember the doctor telling me “I asked her what hospital she got transferred from and she said Lowell General?” yeah if someone can’t even remember what hospital, which it wasn’t even the right hospital, they got transferred from *maybe* they shouldn’t be making life altering decisions? Almost any big information that I should’ve been notified of by a nurse, my mom told me about over the phone, so I had to call Apple Valley and ask about it myself! After that weekend I worked on getting her transferred to a different facility and we had a much better experience there! The new facility would call me for basically everything! We talked about meds, PT plan, etc, and it really felt like they cared, like they understood what a difficult time this is for us and they wanted to help. While there were a few okay moments at Apple Valley, overall I felt like I got almost no compassion from them. And while I’m sure the people working there are good people and mean well, it just did not come across like that to our family. This is just my experience, but be prepared to stand up for yourself and your loved ones if you go here.

We are very grateful to have our family member living here. He is happy and well cared for. Apple Valley Center has provided us with relief from worrying and micromanaging because it is evident that the staff are interested in, and value, their residents. Every day we are grateful. .

My significant other spent several weeks in Apple Valley Center. I cannot even begin to tell you the exceptional care he was given. My first encounter was with Daniel, the Admissions Director. He was professional, competent, caring, and transparent. After admission, I was pleasantly surprised that the staff was the same. Every staff member I met, or even heard speaking with other patients were genuinely pleasant and really went over and above to get to know the person as well as administer medical care. I recommend Apple Valley Center without reservation.
