Brattle is such a pleasant surprise in the streets of central Boston. There are books on books, inside and out, and none of them are organized in any fashion other than by price. Whenever you have an extra hour (or two... or three...) swing by Brattle and buy some of their random books about some obscure art movement in 1920s Chile, or an ancient romance novel, or a 2017 Chemistry textbook. If you have the time to search through their extensive stacks, you'll find just about anything you can think of!

A bookstore full of ancient books. More humanity than science. There are some random old books that costs only $25 at the 3rd floor.

Loved it! For-profit book store in Boston we had seen on TikTok. Ended up being a couple of blocks from our hotel. 3 stories inside and a lot nextdoor, outside. Rare books, local books, books from all genres. If you love books, don't miss it! Cool shop!

Wonderful second hand bookstore with very reasonable prices. In the day the parking area next door is covered with bookshelves with prices on used books from $10 to $5 to $2 to $1, lots of very interesting books available. Then you go inside and can hike up to the third floor and see the rare books that have gone for tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Fantastic second-hand and vintage book store. There's a huge collection of books for between $2 to $6 in an open area next to the store building, which is already stunning. But the real deal is inside, with three floors of neatly organized shelves full with books on all kinds of topics and genres. Most books are in good condition, some in excellent shape, and prices are fair - sometimes cheaper than online second-hand and with the advantage that you can check the state of the book before buying it. If you are as much of a bookworm as I am, you cannot miss it on your visit to Boston! It's better to bring some cash with you as there's a minimum of $5-$10 for card payment.

What a cool experience that is so "Boston" in nature. Located steps off of The Freedom Trail and from Boston Common, this indoor and outdoor bookstore is such a unique experience, especially in a time when books stores are increasingly obsolete. I grew up near used book stores and am still a heavy reader by virtue of having the resources and experience of memorable and interesting book sellers such as Brattle. Great place to take your kiddos or a date, and I hope this experience is enjoyed for a long time to come!

My favorite bookstore for browsing old, rare, and interesting books - SOOOO many old books in one place! And they still have the outside part with the clearance section, with books ranging from $1-5 - they're about the ONLY place you can find quality reading material at that price. You can find something for everyone, and at any price range! In fact, I went up to the third floor for the first time today, to the rare books section, where I found a rack of delightful ephemera. I didn't even know there WAS a third floor, so this place just keeps getting better and better in my opinion. If you're a reader and can spend hours perusing shelves, THIS IS YOUR PLACE, GO HERE.

I recently visited Brattle Bookshop in the fall of 2021. It was at the top my bucket list of bookstores to visit and shop. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. I've shopped at, no kidding, over 200 bookshops across the country in 33 states and Brattle is in my top 5 favorites. I highly recommend this bookshop and will definitely visit again, hopefully as soon as possible.

My boyfriend won't let me leave anything less than 5 stars. It's his favorite used bookstore. He can find so many books in his Navy history career specialty. He is limited only by what he can carry. For me, this bookstore is lacking in science books. It have very few astronomy books, none that were of interest to me, except the one I've already read. If you love history, this is your place! It's also got a great outdoor market for cheaper books.
