I have taken many ferrets to see Dr. O'Brien over several years but unfortunately each time they received a terminal diagnosis. My most recent visit was my 5 year old ferret who suddenly could not use his back legs. I was taken inside quickly and a room was waiting for us and Dr. O'Brien was prompt at coming in to examine him. She listened and took the time I needed and didn't rush me out the door even though it was after 5 o'clock and they were packed with pets waiting to be seen. As it turned out after seeing the X-rays my poor buddy has a bad disc in his lower back. He was given some medicine to help with inflammation and I'm happy to say he's walking again! He's still not 100% but considering he may have been paralyzed I am beyond happy with the outcome. My only only complaint is that when they did blood work to check for adrenaline, insulinoma he came back to me and stunk like alcohol which freaked me out because it's toxic to ferrets. I asked the tech for some water so I could clean him and she even helped me do it.

They are so kind and caring to all animals big and small. Everyone is super helpful and professional. They are very knowledgeable and I trust them with my kid's guinea pigs, bunny and other pets. Call first to make sure they are taking new patients.

I found this place looking for an Avian Vet. I needed an emergency visit. The usual avian vet was out on vacation for the week but Dr. O'Brian was awesome and saw me instead. She was sweet understanding. I plan to start bringing our other pets here as well. The place was clean and they do a semi-contactless visit which I truly appreciate. I already left another very for my dog because they wouldn't allow me in with him. I respect the other vets covid decisions, and I would probably be like them, but I need to be with my pets when they go in. I was ecstatic to find out this place allowed me in with my baby. The techs were also sweet and loving. Thank you!!

This place was SO pleasant & orderly from the second we got there until the second we left. Kayli was the Tech, and the Dr. was Jill O'Brien. This place was definitely worth the drive. They were SO caring & professional, and communicated honestly & in detail. Every moment of our visit was POSITIVE. I will definitely continue coming here. Huge difference from the previous Vet I went to.

Mattapoisett Animal Hospital has the best care for exotic animals in the area. Dr. O’Brien has provided outstanding care for my rats in past years. Most recently I brought my 12 yr old rescued Cockatiel, Dino, in to see Dr. Gould. Even though Dino doesn’t trust people, he bites, and isn’t the easiest to handle Dr. Gould and the technicians were so compassionate and kind. They not only provided a high standard of medical care but Dr. Gould also gave great advice on taming and an insight into my bird’s personality. As a first-time bird owner, he answered all of my questions and educated me on common topics (wing clipping, leg bands, improving his diet, etc). We will be visiting Dr. Gould and the rest of the MAH staff for any of our future needs.

They are awesome! Great customer service, great with animals, they're just all so loving and caring. Dr o'Brien was amazing with my ferret. She's very empathetic and caring person! My ferret had surgery to have a tumor removed 4 days ago and hes doing great!! Thank you all for everything you do!! Highly recommended!

The doctors/vets & staff are amazing! I took my furbaby Forrest King there, he's a cat incase anyone is wondering and he was treated like the king he is! He passed from jaundice and cancer on 06/02/18, they did everything they could and I appreciated every little bit of it. Thank you to the vets and staff! I know you all loved his amazing personality as much as I did. 💚
