The Farmland is Wakefield, Massachusetts' family run supermarket established by Giulio Pellegrini in 1978. Since that time, the entire Pellegrini family has been heavily involved in the business. At any time you could come in and see Giulio's wife, Maria, working in the kitchen or the two sons, Mino and Frank, setting up produce or working behind the deli counter or Cathy behind the register. Originally a produce market with a small Italian deli, The Farmland has expanded to include a full-service bakery, specialty groceries, a catering service, a full line of Italian specialty cold cuts, and a top-of-the-line butcher shop. I come here faithfully. Small, family owned place with a decent selection despite the size. Great deli counter and pretty good square pizza at the bakery. I belive it comes in half or full sheets. Would recommend if having a party or function. Also, Jean is the best! Always service with a smile.

Farmland catered the grad party we hosted for our son. Everything was fantastic - my guests were raving about the pizza and chicken salad sandwiches. Great food for a great price.

I travel from NH to get decent Italian goodies and excellent produce. These cookies are so good. Taste like a kiss of anise with a touch of pistachio with a cake like texture.

Farmland catered my daughter’s first birthday. I filled out the online form at it was ready for me at the exact date and time. HUGE platters of cheese and veggies, amazing sandwiches and they even give you a little condiment carousel. On top of that, great deli, amazing breads, and top-tier prepared food.

I’ve stopped here for their great selection of Stonewall Kitchen products and they always have my favorite Deep River Rosemary/olive oil chips! Today I saw the best looking piece of swordfish (no icky brown spots). I got it. Moving on to the bakery, I picked a piece of cheesecake and a lemon square. The woman took a square closest to her. While boxing it, I noticed it didn’t look as fresh and vibrant as the squares in the very front of the display case. That bugged me a bit as I’m sure it was yesterdays product hidden where the customers can’t see it. Sell it even if it’s old? Kinda gross! Anyhoo, the swordfish was the best I’ve ever had but the lemon square, not so much. Designate which pastry you want or you’ll end up with something a few days old.

Wonderful spot! They have an authentic Italian Bakery within the grocery store. If you're in their neck of the woods stop by. You'll be glad you did. Excellent produce, prepared meals, all kinds of salads for a healthy option or Italian Subs of all kinds. Extensive Stonewall Kitchen selection and other gourmet foods.
