We've had a pretty frustrating experience renting from KO Storage. When we first moved in, the lock had not been taken off. When we moved to another unit, they did not update our information in the system and had put a manager's lock on the unit. We got these issues resolved with much back and forth. At some point our lock had fallen off, and the manager was nice enough to put a temporary one on there for us and let us know. However I contacted the customer service line two weeks ago to let them know I had put a new lock on and they assured me the manager would get his lock off within 72 hours. Again, this was two weeks ago. It's been extremely frustrating not having access to my own storage unit despite always paying on time and being flexible with their situations. I would not recommend renting from this location. EDIT 1: Their Director of operations did call me shortly after I posted my initial review on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. I called back that Tuesday and left a voicemail. Never heard anything after.

Rented a storage unit 4 days ago and went to use it for the first time today. When I got there it had a lock on it. After 15 minutes of trying to get someone on the phone I finally did. They told me because so many of their units have been broken into that they have been putting locks on all the empty units. They told me it might not be till the next day before someone could come remove the lock and because I had a full truck, trailer and 3 guys to help unload I told them that wouldn’t work. They told me I had their permission to go get some bolt cutters and cut the lock off. While we were unloading the manager came out swearing and yelling at us and told me I owed him $10 for the lock?!?!? When we came back for the second load in the evening we had the local police stop and talk to us. They told us that there have been a “ton” of units broken into and also informed us that the facilities cameras didn’t even work. So to recap 1. Lock had to be cut off first day 2. Got cussed out by manager for doing something I had permission to do. 3. Police tell us not to store anything of value in our unit. Do not rent from these people.

I found the KO Storage facility in Maple Plain to be perfectly located for my needs. During a late night of packing to move to the area, I paid for a unit online, found it snowed in, so I picked another empty unit to unload into. I left a message and got called back right away. Dirk was very decent to deal with and sympathetic to the snow situation. He made the switch for me. No big deal. Throughout the months I rented the 2 spaces, the units were clean and dry, they kept the snow plowed, and the units were well lit and safe. They were not surrounded by a fence but we always felt they were safe. I highly recommend the Maple Plain KO storage and can believe that the others facilities are just as nice. The management is great to work with and the units are fairly priced.
